I recently read an article in The Toronto Sun on November 21, 2008 by Maureen O'Neill, the President of the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB), a professional association that represents 28,000 realtors in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) on the subject of Home Staging.  In the article, she encouraged the practice of home staging as it can achieve a faster sale with a potentially higher return.  It was noted that one study, in particular, found that staged homes sold for an average of five percent more, and in half the time.  It was further emphasized that hiring a staging expert can mean the difference between having your home sit on the market longer and achieving a quick and profitable sale.

The article was very favourable on the subject of Home Staging.  With the current downturn in the economy and a greater inventory of homes that are listed for sale than last year, professional home staging is a service that needs to be recognized and valued more now than ever before.
