In my last blog entry, Is "Big Title" Outsourcing YOUR Security?, I explored how the major title insurers are shipping your personal information off to the third world. Well, Reuters recently reported that First American Corp. is planning to spin off its financial services arm, which will include "worldwide residential and commercial title operations". According to the article, the company plans to "aggressively reduce employee counts" and cut operating costs by offshoring processing related jobs to--you guessed it, India and the Philippines. Most of us think of outsourcing in terms of manufacturing jobs lost to low-wage workers in places like Mexico or China. You may be surprised to find out, however, that the latest corporate trend in outsourcing isn't taking place at companies like Wal-Mart or Microsoft. Subprime Mortgages: What Does God Think? - 01/05/08 12:45 AM
As an Evangelical Christian, all this talk about subprime mortgages and predatory lending has gotten me to thinking...what does God think of all this? There was a recent article from Reuters which examined the issue from a religious perspective, but to get God's take on things, I had to go straight to the source--His Word as revealed in Scripture. Now, I make no claim of being a Biblical scholar, nor do I consider myself a "religious" man. I'd venture to guess that most of you reading this get up in the morning with a fire in your belly and a genuine passion for the work that you do. You are the backbone of not only the real estate and title industry, but of this great nation of ours as well. You are the ones who are making this country work, and it is a genuine privilege to be associated with a fine group of talented people such as yourselves.
