I found this lovely pile in an about 100 year old house this past week.  It is pretty amazing what some people will ignore when it is out of sight.  This house had had a lot of nice upgrades done in the last few years, but no one bothered doing anything with the attic.   The attic didn't have any insulation, so I guess it may have been serving some service by providing a degree on insulation!
