It's back to the basics for me. There are some basic tools we learned to use in Real Estate 101 and now is the time to pull out the tool bag. Gotta check my arsenal. While it's true that the times they are a changin', it's also true that the basics of real estate are ever tried and true. Old school real estate transactions are still the way to go. There are a few tweaks here and there, yes- more sophisticated marketing for those listings (virtual tours, QR codes), phones that do everything just short of calling themselves (wait, I think

house buying: Buyer Tip: Bring Certified Funds to Your Closing - 10/06/08 10:53 AM
The MAR (Maryland Association of Realtors) recently updated its Residential Contract of sale and I've already gone awry; the revised contract was effective October 1st and I've had to re-write a couple that were in process. Although there were several notable changes, one item remained the same. It's on the very first page, regarding the balance of the sales price (minus deposit(s)) being paid at the settlement table by means of certified check, wired funds, bank funds, or just plain ole cash. I'm paraphrasing. Interesting that this one is clearly stated and unchanged. Perhaps others have experienced a buyer arriving at the closing table without

house buying: Bad Media, Giant Foods, and Sour Grapes - What's up with That? - 10/29/07 09:03 PM
What's up with the new Giant Foods TV commercials with the mom talking about how much she trusts Giant to have her back? O.K., I'm paraphrasing here but basically Giant Mom tells us she's a busy mom, her family's on a budget (trying to save for a single-family home that'll give her boys "a back yard") AND she just does not have the time nor inclination to look at sales or check the paper for coupons(!), or otherwise waste her valuable time doing any research (you know, the type of stuff we normal folks need to find the time to do).
