Living in the Branson/Table Rock Lake Area - 08/16/08 10:52 PM
Branson is a small town in Southwest Missouri, located in the Ozark Mountains and surrounded by lakes. Though the population is considered small (6,050 in 2000), over 8 million visitors travel here annually.
Often Branson is called "the Country Music Capitol."  This description is deceptive as this location has so much more to offer than music shows.
First of all, there are three lakes. Table Rock Lake has over 700 miles of shoreline where you can fish, swim, ski, or just relax on your boat. If fishing is your passion, Lake Taneycomo, a cold-water lake is famous for its trout. Then … (0 comments)

Can I Have a Private Boat Dock on Table Rock Lake? - 08/15/08 11:51 AM
Perhaps...Because private boat docks have been "grandfathered in," on Table Rock Lake, the easiest way to obtain a private boat dock is to purchase a home on the lake that already has one.
Suppose you want to purchase a lakefront lot, build a new home, and have a private dock?
The first step is to find a lot available for sale that is "zoned" for boat docks. The Corps of Engineers has designated 10% of the shoreline in specific areas as having boat dock zoning.

Finding and purchasing such a lot, however, does not necessarily mean that you can start construction on a … (0 comments)

Information on Schools in the Branson Area - 08/13/08 05:11 PM
It's almost time for schools in the Tri-Lakes area to open up their doors for the start of another new year. People considering relocation to the Branson area, often ask me about the schools. We are fortunate to have very good schools throughout Taney and Stone counties.
There is a highly useful State of Missouri web site that lists extensive details on all the schools in the state. Click here to view this web site.
This site lists information on each school in several categories, including a directory, maps, demographics, calendar, students per teacher, average teacher and administrator salaries and experience, graduation … (0 comments)

Tour the Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery - 08/07/08 03:56 PM
Just outside of Branson, at the foot of Table Rock Dam, is the Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery. This facility is a great place to spend an afternoon and best of all, it's free, unless you choose to drop a quarter in the fish food vending machine.
For the trout production program of the Missouri Department of Conservation, this facility ranks as the largest. Over 1 million catchable rainbow and brown trout are produced here each year. Some of these fish are released into Lake Taneycomo and others are put into other Missouri trout management areas.
Over 250,000 people visit … (0 comments)

Fireworks Aren't Just for the 4th of July - 08/05/08 12:35 PM
On Table Rock Lake, you can watch the sky light up several times a year when it comes to holidays. This upcoming Labor Day weekend is no exception.

On August 31st, both The Chateau on the Lake and Big Cedar Lodge, will be displaying their traditional Labor Day fireworks. You can see the show from many places on land near these two resorts.
Several boaters choose to watch the fireworks by water. It's almost as much fun to see all the boats congregate in one area on Table Rock Lake as it is to observe the fireworks.
