branson blog: Information on Lake Taneycomo in Branson, Missouri - 02/15/10 08:29 AM
Lake Taneycomo is located in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, between Table Rock Lake and Bull Shoals Lake. Formed in 1913 with the completion of Powersite Dam, Lake Taneycomo stretches from Table Rock Dam to Powersite Dam and passes through the towns of Hollister, Branson, Powersite, Rockaway Beach, and Forsyth.
Because Lake Taneycomo's water comes from the bottom of Table Rock Dam, it is a cold water lake with an average temperature of 58 degrees. These cool waters are stocked annually with rainbow trout and many consider it a world-class place to fish. The origin of the name of Lake Taneycomo (0 comments)
branson blog: You Might Be A Realtor If... - 02/11/10 11:38 AM
Real Estate is not your typical job. In over 12 years in this field, I've experienced some amusing incidents. In the spirit of Jeff Foxworthy's "You might be a Redneck if" jokes, I've decided to compile a list for Realtors. The only difference is...these things have really happened to me. If you're a Realtor, you'll probably be able to relate to some of these stories. Here goes. "You might be a Realtor if..." You view a run-down, fixer-upper and feel your legs start to itch. Then you realize your feet and ankles are covered with fleas. You show a house with a (8 comments)
The magazine is nature oriented and "brings you eye-popping art, photos and stories about Missouri's coolest critters, niftiest natural places, liveliest outdoor activities, and people who make a living from the wild" as described on the web site. It is printed six times a year and it's easy to sign up by visiting the Xplor web site. Enjoy your outdoor adventures! (0 comments)
branson blog: Branson City Hall to Expand - 02/10/10 03:43 PM
Construction is in the future for Branson's City Hall. The Branson Board of Aldermen recently voted to allocate $300,000 to expand part of the police department and the city's municipal court offices. Of the total expenditure, $27,000 will be used for an architectural firm to design the project. City officials expect to start and finish the project in 2010. The city has seen a 144 percent increase in the number of court cases, thus the need for more room and employees to handle these cases in the municipal court. (0 comments)
Remember, you're not the only person looking for a great deal. The competition is stiff and many of these homes receive multiple bids. Therefore, being prepared will mean the difference between making a successful offer that results in a contract or losing the home to another buyer. The first step to being ready is to have a system in place to be notified about foreclosed properties. If you're the first to find the (3 comments)
branson blog: Branson -Where's the Traffic? - 09/24/09 11:58 AM
In the past, some of the local souvenir shops carried (and may still) T-shirts that featured a picture of two, long lines of cars on a two-lane road with the caption: Branson, The World's Biggest Parking Lot. This is proof that Branson has a reputation for terrible traffic.
While this is still a busy, tourist destination, traffic is really not that big of a problem. Prior to the early 1990's, you didn't have many route choices besides Highway 76 and a few windy streets that circled through various subdivisions. However, since that time, many alternate routes have been developed to (2 comments)
branson blog: Golfing at Pointe Royale in Branson, Missouri - 09/14/09 10:49 AM

For all levels of play, this course features lush bent grass greens and Bermuda fairways, eight water holes, rolling fairways with mature trees, and sand and grass bunkers. branson blog: Selling A Vacant Home - 09/01/09 02:44 PM
There are many things you need to do to help your vacant home show better. Number one: Keep it clean. You may have cleaned it when you moved out, but even empty houses get dirty. Many times there are cobwebs or dead bugs on the floor. And somehow, dust still accumulates.
Another important detail is the smell of the home. I showed a home today that has been on the market for about two months but the disclosure says it has been vacant for three years. The buyers thought the home smelled like it had a mold problem. However, I (0 comments)
branson blog: Don't Buy A Lot Until You Read This! - 05/21/09 02:50 PM
The first step in building the custom home you've always wanted is finding the perfect lot. However, there is more to picking a lot than just location. You will need to get a professional opinion about the slope of the lot and how it will affect the cost of building your home. This advice pertains more to the Ozarks than it does to other parts of the country, as flat lots are few and far between in this area. You will want your builder or excavator to examine the lot and possibly take shots of the slope of the elevation. It (1 comments)

In addition to the name change, the hospital announced that it is in the top 5% of hospitals for overall clinical quality and has been named a Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence. This title was given by HealthGrades, a healthcare rating company that studies 5,000 non-federal hospitals for quality. Skaggs is the only hospital in Southwest Missouri to receive this distinction. branson blog: Understanding Your Real Estate Contract - Inspections - 03/02/09 02:37 PM
Inspections are an important part of the Contract for Sale of Real Estate. Inspections must be made by an qualified, independent inspector. This means that someone who is in the business of inspecting homes must perform the inspection. The buyer may have any type of inspection they deem necessary including structural, septic, well, radon, etc. Inspections are at the buyer's expense.
One of the most misunderstood parts of the Inspection section of the contract is the Inspection Period. The inspection period is length of time stated in the contract in which all inspections must be completed. Not only do (0 comments)
branson blog: Three New Businesses Coming to Branson - 02/04/09 09:56 PM
It was recently announced by Branson city officials that three new businesses will soon be built in Branson Hills. Pizza Hut, Dollar Tree, and Quizno's Subs will be built next to the Wendy's on Branson Hills Parkway. For the fourth straight year, Branson has surpassed over $100 million in new construction. For 2008, the city's data shows a total of $102 million in new construction. Our community continues to be an area of growth and expansion, attracting several new businesses in the past few years and, hopefully, for years to come. In light of the national media's coverage of doom and gloom, (1 comments)
The new venture will be named Wilderness in the Ozarks. Located just off U.S. Highway 65, it will include 600 hotel suites that will surround an 80,000 square foot indoor waterpark and another four acres of outdoor water park. In addition, there are plans for cabins, an entertainment center, two sit-down restaurants, three fast-food venues, a Holiday Inn Express and Wyndham Garden Inn, and 35,000 square feet of retail space. The expected completion date for the resort and waterpark is December 2009. (4 comments)
branson blog: Living in the Branson/Table Rock Lake Area - 08/16/08 10:52 PM
Branson is a small town in Southwest Missouri, located in the Ozark Mountains and surrounded by lakes. Though the population is considered small (6,050 in 2000), over 8 million visitors travel here annually. Often Branson is called "the Country Music Capitol." This description is deceptive as this location has so much more to offer than music shows. First of all, there are three lakes. Table Rock Lake has over 700 miles of shoreline where you can fish, swim, ski, or just relax on your boat. If fishing is your passion, Lake Taneycomo, a cold-water lake is famous for its trout.
