It's time to start tracking Santa! - 12/24/09 09:22 AM
I like to show this one to my kids every year.  It's time to track Santa on his Christmas delivery route.  In what has been a tradition for more than 50 years NORAD tracks Santa on his nighttime journey from the North Pole.
Watch Santa make his way around the globe by clicking here.
If you don't know the history behind NORAD tracking his flight you should have a read.  It seems it all started over a misprint in a Sears Roebuck & Co. advertisement prompting kids to call a number to talk with Santa.
They have been tracking Santa's Christmas Eve flight … (10 comments)

Dealchrip.com - local deals from local Boise businesses - 12/20/09 11:34 PM
Dealchrip.com - local deals from local Boise businesses
Here's a great local site for finding deals from Boise's local businesses.  Dealchirp.comoffers coupons and deals from independent businesses that meet a certain criteria that deems them as "local."
Now you may be asking what does "local" look like?  Business owners and customers can get a list of their criteria by clicking here.
I think this is a really great idea and I hope the site takes off.  Small business is what's going to lead us out of economic hardship and supporting those businesses is one of the healthiest things you can do … (2 comments)

What do you give your children, when you have nothing to give - 12/20/09 11:16 AM
I wrote this one last year around this time and I think it's actually more fitting now than it was when I wrote it.  The holiday season is a great time to draw your family close and be thankful for the blessings you've been given.  As many families are facing some substantial struggles I wanted to post this again.
I normally don't write the touchy-feely posts but I'm sitting here this morning reading headlines and thinking about all the troubled families out there and I feel compelled to get this off my chest and offer a little advice to any struggling … (94 comments)

Short sales as a financial strategy not a necessity - 12/18/09 05:41 PM
Short sales as a financial strategy not a necessity -
A question I've been pondering lately, what do you do with a short sale client that is using it more as a means of financial planning than out of necessity?
I end up dealing with both and I wonder what approach are you supposed to take with someone in this scenario.  That being, a client comes to you requesting help for them to perform a short sale even though they technically have the income or assets to cover the loss they are taking on the real estate investment.
Do you take … (16 comments)

Congrats to Boise State Broncos on their second BCS berth - 12/06/09 10:45 PM

Congrats to the Boise State Broncos on another perfect season and another invite to a BCS bowl.
Despite the fact that BSU and TCU both got ripped off by the system yet again.  It just goes to show how the BCS is more about money than matching up the right teams.
Besides, it gives all those clowns who talk about how tough their confrrences and schedules all another excuse about how we can't play at their level.
Too bad none of them are willing to play at ours.

A long over due than you to my friend Janna - 12/06/09 10:04 PM
It's long over due but I still feel I need to say than you to my friend Janna for helping out a client I referred to her months ago.  When the client called me and told me about her situation my heart sank.  It was a nasty investment scheme that had her headed into foreclosure.
I told her I would put her in touch with someone who could help her out in the local market area.  Not one to just hand out referrals to anyone I asked around but in the end decided I would go with who I felt had … (3 comments)
