I finally heard back from the negotiator on one of my short sales today.  One thing I always like to do is establish some rapport with them and see what kind of insights I can glean from them about their process and best practices in working with them.
This particular one has been extremely difficult to get hold of and although I've been persistent in my efforts, I've been careful not to cross the line to obnoxious.  I couldn't resist asking him to tell me what's the best way to a negotiator to respond.

Taylor Bean and Whitaker - Bouncing checks to Boise's local residents
It's seems Taylor Bean and Whitaker a lender headquartered in Florida gave one Boise couple some false hope.  A few weeks after receiving a check for $1500.00 dollars in the mail the money disappeared from there account. 
The verdict? A bounced check.  It seems Taylor Bean and Whitaker has been taken over by the FDIC and joined the long list of failed banks in the US. 
I really hope they do end up getting their money back.

lenders: Lenders being pro-active on short sales - I can't belive it. - 05/25/09 04:41 PM
Has anyone noticed a changing of the tide in the short sale process?
I've received two calls this weekend from lenders on short sale packages.  One was Wells Fargo giving me a courtesy call letting me know they had received the short sale package and that I had been assigned a negotiator.  The other was from a lender that I've never dealt with before called Quantum Servicing.  He's actually called me multiple times to see how things were progressing and wanted to know when to expect the short sale package.  Title can't move fast enough for this guy.
