The Freeze Aftermath - 01/11/10 09:36 PM
I wrote a bog titled, "Attention League City Residents FREEZE ALERT" :
But you just can't save everybody.  In my neighborhood, there were many sprinkler fatalities.  Some people have to find out and learn their lessons the hard way.  And it isn't fun.
It isn't obvious for people that have never lived down south that you should have to wrap your pipes.  Homes in the north are built for the cold.  Why worry??
Well, when a 15 foot geyser streams from your home, you will understand why.  Not all pipes here are not buried underground.  Sprinkler systems, pool equipment, etc … (4 comments)

FROZEN PIPES IN LEAGUE CITY, TX - 01/08/10 12:47 PM
Attention League City Residents FREEZE ALERT :
Please take the time to wrap your pipes carefully. It may be too late, but if you didn't do it last night, you may still have time. I have seen 2 homes in my neighborhood so far with broken pipes from the freeze. 
Take the time to wrap the backflow reventer entirely on your sprinkler systems!! This section of pipe on a sprinkler system extends from the ground about 2-3 feet and has a brass bell shaped fitting. Wrap the entire thing. Use bubble wrap and duct tape because stores seem to be out of traditional insulation materials.
