Join us for the 2010 National Angelman Syndrome Awareness Walk on May 15th, 2010!
Last year our area raised over $80,000 for research and awareness of Angelman Syndrome and we need your help to do it again! 
You can still come and walk with us at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, NJ near the Playground and Dog Park - just follow the signs.
Registration opens at 8:00am and the walk starts at 9:15am.  We will have plenty of food, musica nd fun!

What is Angelman Syndrome?
Angelman Syndrome (AS) is a neuro-genetic disorder that occurs in 1 in 15,000 live births. AS is often misdiagnosed as cerebral palsy or autism. Characteristics of AS include; developmental delay, lack of speech, seizures, and walking and balance disorders. Individuals with Angelman Syndrome will require life-long care. ~ via www.angelman.org

angelman syndrome foundation: February 28, 2010 is Rare Disease Day - Update! - 02/17/10 01:13 PM

I share this information with you today because my son suffers from one of these Rare Diseases called Angelman Syndorme. 
He is a beautiful loving little boy who suffers from multiple delays and seizure disorder. 
I want to bring awareness to all disorders that may not receive the funding they need to perform much needed research and support for families!

Many of you know the effect that children can have on your lives.  Soooo many emotions let loose by the fact that a little part of yourself will carry on for the world to see.
I can still remember the day my husband and I decided to have kids, we were sitting in our family room (ironic, don't you think!) watching TV wondering what to do on that Saturday afternoon.  We both looked at each other and thought, we are bored, let's have a kid!

What a day!  The outpouring of support from those and forthose who are affected by Angelman Syndrome was overwhelming at this year's 2009 Angelman Syndrome National Walk-a-thon that took place in 24 locations across America this past Saturday May 16th, 2009.
 
Before I had even stepped out my door at 5:45am the morning of the walk we had already raised over $55,000 and had preregistered over 370 walkers for the Philadelphia area walk-a-thon which took place at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, NJ.  We were over 50% of the way to our goal for fundraising and had exceed our attendance by … (4 comments)

I am excited to announce that we have over 375 pre-regiestered walkers for this years walk!!!!!
And we expect many more to come the day of and register.  It's not too late to join us for a great day full of sunshine and fun.
Registration starts at 8am and the walk starts around 9am. 
You only need to sign a waiver to participate, we will be walking around the beautiful Cooper River path with gorgeous views of the marina and wildlife.
Last year our location raised over $100,000 and we hope to meet that or exceed it this year.
