Male Agents are From Mars: Advice for Wives of Agents - 06/30/10 10:32 AM
In reading J.Philip Faranda's post, I thought it would be well worth re-blogging. I'm sure you will agree. This actually pertains to either spouse of a real estate agent. Brigita Via J. Philip Faranda (J. Philip LLC) Westchester County NY: I suppose I could title this "for spouses," but having never been a wife I felt it best to come from my perspective as a husband. It is not easy being married to a real estate licensee. We aren't just on straight commission; what we go through for that commission typically takes months and often comes with

The Horse's Prayer - 06/29/10 04:13 PM
I came across this poem in one of my books and wanted to share with everyone. It doesn't need any explanations. It pretty much says it all. The Horse's Prayer I'm only a horse, dear Master, but my heart is warm and true, And I'm ready to work my hardest, for the pleasure of pleasing you. Good corn, and hay, and water are all that I wish to ask. And a warm dry bed to rest on, when I've finished my daily task. Don't strike me in needless anger if I'm slow to understand, But encourage

Good Deeds Are Always Remembered - 06/29/10 08:40 AM
Yesterday, at one of my networking groups, I met a lady that I haven't seen in over 20 years. Her sons went to school with my children. We had met actually when my son and her son were in kindergarten. Anyway, When I had entered the room, she looked familiar to me, but I couldn't place her. She approached me, we introduced each other and we began to converse. This is when we realized how we knew each other. A couple of other people had joined in the conversation and she introduced me to them and then stated, "She is one of

There is No Such Thing as an Under-Priced House - 06/29/10 08:03 AM
Hmmmmm. No such thing as under-pricing a home? What Roger Johnson writes about it, makes sense. It may even stir up a lot of offers. See what you think. Brigita Via Roger Johnson, Realtor - Hickory NC Real Estate (CENTURY 21 American Homes): I was recently catching up on my ActiveRain newsletter reads (I'm behind) and it seems the hot topic a couple of weeks ago (okay, way behind) was agents "underpricing" listings in order to get buyers to make offers. I tracked back a few posts and it seems that the start of this was a

Why Every Listing Should be Priced at $1 - 06/29/10 07:58 AM
Roger Johnson has come up with a great idea as far a pricing homes and getting a great price for the sellers. It is an interesting concept. Brigita Via Roger Johnson, Realtor - Hickory NC Real Estate (CENTURY 21 American Homes): This is a follow-up to my post, There is No Such Thing as an Under-Priced House. While reading through various posts on the topic of under pricing, on comment really caught my eye. Basically, the commenter said something to effect that if the goal of under pricing was to simply get the highest bid, then every property should

Some Strange But True Facts About Horses - 06/28/10 05:13 PM
Everyone that knows me knows how much I enjoy anything to do with horses. I thought I would write about some strange but true random facts about horses. Here you go: - A horse's sense of touch is so sensitive, that it notices the instant a mosquito lands on it. - Adult male horses usually have 40-42 teeth while the females only have 36-38. - Horses do not have collarbones. Their front limbs are directly attached to the spinal column by muscles, tendons, and ligaments. - Hairs from horses' tails are used to create bows for

Gulf Oil Spill Getting Hairy - 06/23/10 08:34 AM
The BP Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is an environmental disaster that will have a lasting impact on the region well into the future. But horse people and pet owners have an opportunity to help in the clean-up. No, it is not by physically going down and cleaning up the mess. There is a unique opportunity to support the clean-up by collecting horse hair. Yes, I said collecting horse hair. Hair, whether it's human, equine or animal, is a natural product to which gloppy oil is attracted and is currently being packed into booms to soak

Relating to Bird Watching and Learning From Them - 06/17/10 11:52 AM
I was looking out my bedroom window this morning, and saw 2 finches flying around the bird house that we had put up in our large pine tree. These 2 finches were flying all around it, then went inside, and then came back out to check the outside of the house and flew areound the area some more. This went on for quite a while. Thes same 2 finches had been around a few days ago, checking out the "neighborhood" and the house. I must admit, they were doing a thorough check of everything. You might say they were

Debt Settlement Companies - Are They a Good Thing or A Bad Thing?? - 06/12/10 10:53 AM
I am working with someone that is working on getting out of debt. Their credit card debt had accumulated and they are looking to pay them off and look for a home. Of course with the credit card companies raising the interest rates and lowering credit limits, which in turn raises the monthly payments, it's hard to pay these debts off. These people decided to check into the debt settlement companies and see if they could maybe help as they claim. They signed up with one and thought they were on their way to rid themselves of the never ending

Funny Friday - The Bronc & the Cowboy - 06/11/10 09:31 AM
Thought I would throw in a horse & cowboy joke. The Bronc & the Cowboy A cowboy climbed aboard a bronc, which began to buck. The bronc threw one particular buck that caused the cowboy to lose his stirrups while, at the same time, the bronc caught a hind leg in one of the stirrups. Wherupon the cowboy went flying out of the saddle. When the onlookers asked the cowboy what had happened, he replied, "Well, boys, when I looked down and saw the bronc's foot in the stirrup, I said to myself, 'hell, if he's gettin' on,
