Saturday, December 12, 2009, Lehigh Valley residents will walk from Nazareth to Bethlehem in a 10 mile trek representing the journey of Mary and Joseph. The Christmas Peace Pilgrimage is sponsored by the Lehigh County Conference of Churches. The pilgrimage will start at the parking lot at 520 E. Broad St. in Bethlehem before 10:45AM. Buses at this time will shuttle the walkers to the starting point at Nazareth Moravian Church in Center Square. The pilgrimage will travel down Route 191. Anyone can join in the walk at any point. The Bethlehem Harvest Festival will take place on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 in Historic Bethlehem from 11AM until 9PM. Main Street will be bustling with artists and crafters. Blacksmiths will demonstrate the art of iron work at the 1750 Smithy. How about a walking tour of the Historic Bethlehem? The times for the tours are 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30PM. bethlehem pennsylvania: Bethlehem SteelStacks Arts Center Gets OK from Bethlehem Planners - 09/29/09 07:01 AM
Yesterday the Bethlehem planners unanimously approved the SteelStacks Performing Arts Center to be built at the former Bethlehem Steel plant site. Construction is set to begin this fall on the $25 million four-story performing arts center. It will sit just south of the old blast furnaces. The arts center will include a two-screen cinema that will show independent films, a bistro and an area called the PodZone. The PodZone will feature furniture arranged around flat-screened televisions, which will allow patrons to do everything from sharing Powerpoint presentations to playing Guitar Hero. In simple terms it is a festival of assorted music. Musikfest offers many different types of music for 10 days. Raven and Hamlet made their debut yesterday in downtown Bethlehem in Pennsylvania. Now who are Raven and Hamlet? What is so special about them? They are the 2 newest members of the police force and they were out and about in the streets of Bethlehem getting accustomed to their new surroundings. They are both Fresian - Quarter Horse crosses which are now part of the mounted police team in Bethlehem. Many in the community came out to greet and welcome the newcomers.
