musikfest: Carillon at Musikfest - What Is A Carillon?? - 08/10/09 08:10 AM

Musikfest offered many different types of music you can imagine.  One type at Musikfest was the Carillon performed by "Cast In Bronze".

Carillon!  What is a Carillon?

A Carillon is a 4 ton medieval instrument of 35 bells, played from a modified keyboard with the fists and feet.

In 1480, a musical instrument of cast in bronze bells was created and became known as the CARILLON.  Located in the bell towers throughout the world, the instrument and its player were hidden from sight making the carillon one of the music world's best kept secrets.

musikfest: In Memory of a Dedicated Friend at Musikfest 2009 - 08/08/09 10:05 AM

In October of 2008, my husband's best and closest friend died tragically on the job site.  (Click here to read the post I wrote about this accident.)

Dave Kotash, my husband's best buddy, loved to go to Musikfest.  In 26 years, he never missed a night attending this great musical festival in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

On opening night, July 31st, Dave's brothers released butterflies in honor of their late brother.

I'm sure Dave is still attending Musikfest and is continuing his tradition.
