wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - My Office Assistant - 05/23/12 07:48 AM

Meet Angel, my office assistant.  She likes to help me out by occasionally being a paperweight, making sure my papers don't fly away.  She will also help me at the keyboard at times.  Other times, she will make sure my lap is nice and warm.  My computer doesn't have a mouse, so I guess she is doing her job.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - What A Big Head You Have!! - 05/09/12 11:34 AM

This is a photo of One of Eddie's buddies at the barn, King.  King is a Percheron and stands 18 hands high.  His head is the size of an adult's torso.  His head is that huge!  Even when you look at his feet, they are gigantic.  Eddie is a big horse that stands 16.2 hands.  Next to King, Eddie looks small.  And King lives up to his name, too.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - I'll Just Watch, Thank You! - 05/02/12 05:33 AM

This past weekend, Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA, held A-Day (Activities Day) on their campus.  It was a day full of demonstrations and different activities.  One of the demonstrations was the vaulting demo at their equestrian center.  Students demonstrated their skills at different levels.  It was neat to watch, but I personally wouldn't attempt this.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - A Future Horse Enthusiast - 04/25/12 06:46 AM

A couple of weeks back, my son brought his daughter, my granddaughter, out to the barn to see the horses.  At first she didn't know what to make of them and was a bit afraid.  Good old Eddie decided to come up to my son to say "hi" and to check out the little one.  As you can see in this photo, my granddaughter ended up being brave enough to pet Eddie.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Can You Name . . . . . . - 04/11/12 06:29 AM

Everyone's horse knowledge is being tested, again.  This time, it is an easier one.
Identify the parts of the horse.
Let's see how many parts each of you can identify.  Are you able to label all the parts of the horse?
Congratulations if you know all of the parts!!  If you are unable to identify all of them, my 4H members have you beat.  So, open your books and begin studying.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - First Ride - 04/04/12 05:29 AM

Here's my granddaughter on her first ride.  Yes, this is an elephant instead of a horse.  (Maybe that is why she is not all smiles.)  I do know she enjoys horses.  In the fall, she was at the Penn National Horse Show with us and was intently watching the Grand Prix Show Jumping.  Also, when I put her on my knee and bounce her, she is all laughs.  As soon as I stop bouncing my knee, she continues bouncing herself to let me know she wants more.  Do you think she takes after her grandma in reagards to horses?

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Can You Identify These? - 03/21/12 05:35 AM

This past weekend the Southeastern Regional 4H Hippology Contest was held in my backyard in Northampton County, PA.  There were 3 divisions: Novice, Junior and Senior.  I volunteered to help at this event.  One part of the competition was to identify items at different stations.  Here is the one station that the Novice division had.  See if you can you identify each of these.  Are you smarter than a Novice 4Her?  (The Novice division consisted of 8 year old 4H members.)

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Can You Guess . . . . ? - 02/22/12 06:18 AM

Every so often on Wordless Wednesday photos, I will be challenging everyone.  I will post a photograph and everyone can make a guess as to what it is.  The following day, I will post in the comments what the photo is.  So, this is your first photo.  Look at it carefully and let me know what you think it is.

Ready . . . . set . . . . . GO!

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Horse Property Work Horse - 02/15/12 10:14 AM

If you own a farm, horse property, or just property with acreage, this is the work horse you should own.  It has many uses and comes in handy many times.  It is a John Deere tractor.  (Don't remember the model or year of this particular one.)  When considering buying a horse property, remember to purchase this work horse to help take care of the property chores.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Let Me Out Of Here!! - 02/08/12 05:30 PM

Here is my granddaughter at 9 months of age.  She is not quite walking, yet, but she is getting up on her 2 feet and standing rather well.  (She crawls around quite well at this point.)  She is getting into a lot of things now, so it is necessary to start babyproofing everything, including putting up gates.  I'm sure eventually she'll figure out how to get out of there.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Let Me Tell You a Secret - 01/25/12 10:23 AM

As you can see, this photo was taken during ths summer time.  This horse belongs to one of my friends and was just brought over to her place.  He was only 2 years old at the time and a super friendly boy.  When I went to see the horses, he came up to me and nuzzled me.  He also told me a secret.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Budding Musician - 01/18/12 08:31 AM

Looks like my granddaughter is a budding musician.  At Christmas time she tried out her voice on the microphone and now she is trying her hand at playing the piano.  The one day my husband was watching her for 30 minutes, and she was playing the piano at that time, too.

Looking at this photo, it does look like she is enjoying it.  It looks like she has many talents.  I am so proud of her.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Voicing Herself At An Early Age - 01/11/12 08:33 AM

One of the children received a microphone for a Christmas present.  My granddaughter was given it to entertain herself temporarily.  She right away took to it and was not bashful about speaking into it.  A couple of times she was even singing(?) into it.  She made it a point to be heard.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Let's Play Fetch - 01/04/12 07:54 AM

Have any of you thought of teaching your horse to play games?  I know some play the Parelli games with their horses, but the game in this video is different that I have ever seen.

This horse and his owner are playing fetch.  In watching, you can tell the horse truly enjoys playing this game.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Don't Try This At Home - 12/21/11 09:48 AM

It is quite a challenge for horse and rider to jump a five foot wall with the rider in a saddle.  Not only does it take an athletic horse, but it takes good balance and a good seat on the rider's part to go over these high jumps.  Not to mention lots of practice.

In this video, Robert Whitaker, riding Waterstone, takes this 2,12 meter wall bareback.  Now, that is what I call great balance and a great seat.  Don't try this unless you know you have your riding basics down pat.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Happy, Happy, Happy - 11/30/11 08:10 AM

My granddaughter is growing very quickly.  She is 7 months old now and working on getting around by crawling.  She gets frustrated at times, though, but slowly she is getting there.  Here she has gotten up from her nap and is ready for some more play.  She is an absolute bundle of joy.

Happy baby!

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - A Feast From Mother Nature - 11/23/11 08:33 AM

While at an appointment at the client's home, this is what I saw out their window.  The deer in the area were in their backyard having a feast of their own.  It turned out that there were 15 deer and one buck (a 3 pointer) that were enjoying their dinner.  I'm sure they were very thankful that they were able to feast without being disturbed.  After dining, the little ones ended up playing by running around and bucking.

Have a HAPPY AND BLESSED THANKSGIVING, Everyone!!

Hope you all have a wonderful feast with family and friends as this … (14 comments)

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Take My Picture, Please!!!! - 11/09/11 08:05 AM

When I was going around taking photos of my latest horse farm listing, this fellow kept following me around.  He was quite a friendly guy.  Wanted me to pay attention to him.  I think he also wanted to have his photo taken.  So, I decided to oblige.  This handsome fellow nicely posed for me while I took this shot.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Taking The Easy Way - 10/26/11 08:23 AM

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg with a couple of friends, my son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.  Instead of carrying the little one the traditional way (in the arms), my soon found a more practical way.  It made it easier for him and my granddaughter loved it because she was able to see what was ahead of her.

By the way, we all enjoyed the day and the show, including my granddaughter.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday - Bath Time . . . . . Then Yawwwwwwnnnnnnnnn . . . . . - 10/19/11 08:18 AM

This is Angel, my house cat.  She follows me around the house and stays by me a lot.  When I am gone, she will wait for me and greet me at the door as I come in.  She is very gentle when she plays.  She doesn't really use her claws or her teeth.  She loves my horse saddle pads, and anything that has been with the horses (bridles, saddles, etc.).  Here she is on the saddle pads taking her bath.  Then . . . . . . . . . .
