At the ripe old age of 18 I had a life changing accident that my body has never let me forget.

Mom & I were going upstate NY to our camp in the Catskills. We loved it there but Dad always warned us never to travel on a holiday weekend...we went anyway! 2 or 3 miles from home at around 1 am while we sat at a traffic light waiting for it to turn green WHAM! We got rear-ended by a drunk lady. Thank God we were both ok, at least it seemed that way, but in the morning a different tale was told. I couldn't get my head off the pillow, my muscles were so out of whack.

Long story short, I had a pretty nasty whiplash which affected me then, and continues to affect me now.

I've had massages, gone to Chiropractors, physical therapists, you name it I've done it to get relief from the pain.

Now I go to Dr Dina! She's WONDERFUL! I leave her office feeling like the pain I was experiencing has been removed and I'm on my way to feeling better. Of course this is a chronic problem which has been going on for the last 32 years so it is unlikely that a cure will occur but feeling better when pain kicks up is vital for me.

Today is a big day, I've got an incredible plan that will revolutionize the way real estate is done!

First, I fired my broker, it was a great experience! Imagine the shock on his face, oh it was sweet! Then I abolished NAR. Our receptionist is history, along with our admin specialists & office manager, they're toast!

The face of real estate is about to change. People will now be able to sell their homes in a better way. More money will find it's way into the sellers pocket and the Realtor's too. It's about time we take from the rich brokers and give all that money to the poor Realtor, RIGHT?

This has been tried in many ways before but my plan will bring about change. Law suits and hardships have been abundant, lives have been jeopardized even lost but that's ok. The tried and true methods of real estate had their flaws so I have a plan for change!

Whether or not there has been a good experience for buyers and sellers is not nearly as important as the benefits received. Safety and security is of no concern, it simply does not go along with my plan, we need change! Get rid of your lockboxes and suprakeys!!! Yippee!

Now I have experience in real estate, I've listed & sold homes, closed transactions for folks. That gives me credibility to be able to institute this great plan to change the way real estate is bought and sold in this country...IT'S REVOLUTIONARY!!!

Sound familiar???

Nuts, Crazy, The Twilight Zone, Bizarre, did any of those words cross your mind? They cross mine every day!

Every established system has its pros & cons, however most have been established through trial and error and a tremendous amount of knowledge & experience. Real estate practices may not always be within your comfort zone but they are designed basically for the good of all.

So what's my point? Plans for "CHANGE" sound really good but if they are not established on a solid foundation from absolutely credible sources then they will absolutely destroy lives, corruption and chaos will ensue.

My greatest concerns for America come November 4^th!

Will our men & women in uniform who have fought for freedom, lost their lives, shed their blood, be forced to abandon their goal because of a timeline?

Will terrorists view an incomplete, retreating army as weak thereby bringing terrorism to our great land again?

Does a Robinhood mentality cause economies to flourish or fall?

Consider seriously this supposed plan to "CHANGE". There are far too many lives at stake to even consider this twilight zone prospect.

As a United States Air Force Veteran and as someone who lived through 911 while living in NY, I implore you to revisit all that is facing America today and reconsider your position before you vote. Stop listening and being swayed by the fluff of inexperience and ridiculous "Change". Your life and the lives of your loved ones depend on it!

Home Inspectors~ Who do they really work for?

Hmmmm, I've met all kinds! This morning in our office meeting one of the agents invited a home inspector to speak. He has used him several times and is satisfied with his work.

Not knowing him, and being the outspoken, question asking person that I am, I asked "Who do you work for? The customer who pays you or the Realtor who gave you the referral?"

Now I know that this is a pretty tacky question to ask, but the truth of the matter is that the tendency is to favor those who butter your bread! You know, don't bite the hand that feeds you!

When I bought my house in NY several years ago, I asked a friend who had been a Realtor for quite some time for a referral for a home inspector. I don't believe he & she were trying to take advantage of me but the home inspector did a horrible job that cost me $350!!! Once we moved in and got a hard rain we found out that the roof leaked and had been patched so that we couldn't detect it easily, but with a walk on the roof he would have been able to detect it quickly.

That was shortly before I became a Realtor!

We ultimately had the roof redone but it was an expense that we could have negotiated with the seller instead of shouldering it ourselves!

Reputations are always on the line, word of mouth is what our business is all about. Personally I don't ever want to hear a customer complain about any of the contractors or workers that I connect them with. That is why I ask questions. I interview the people I refer.

It was a nasty lesson for me to learn, and an experience I would not like to see my customers go through, so I do take serious interest in selecting home inspectors and other contractors.

Home Inspectors may take offense at what I am saying, but deep down they know that this happens! The ones who would admit this are more than likely the ones who try their darnedest to do a good job for the customer regardless of the Realtor who referred them.

Realtors are not paying your mortgage! They are a resource into unfamiliar territory for many, so feel free to ask for referrals but take the time to interview home inspectors or any other contractors before you hire them.

Rootin' Tootin' Cowboy Shootin' At the Florida Horse Park in Ocala

It's just good clean & dirty fun! Saturday September 20th was a fun day at the Florida Horse Park. We had several teams of mounted shooters competing and showing off their stuff! Plenty of beautiful horses, talented riders and good food made for a great day at the Park.

Following the Mounted Shooters was the Polo matches...wow! I never saw Polo played live and in person. Those horses turn on a dime and chase that ball like a dog after a bird.

Sarah Palin came to The Villages in Lady Lake Florida- A Miracle Happened!

Call it a miracle, call it a coincidence, call it whatever you want, but today I had to choose between meeting people to list their house or going to see Sarah Palin at The Villages.

There really was no choice, I am a Realtor and I keep my commitments.

On Friday my sister and I went and got 3 tickets for "We 3 sisters". Turns out, 2 of us couldn't go. I had brought the tickets with me to church and thought it would be very easy to give them away. Lots of "yes" answers that turned to "no I can't go" once the other person was contacted via cell phone of course!

I went to the first church service and during the closing prayer my phone beeped softly. I thought I recognized the number and quickly picked it up and slipped out of the service.

The voice on the other end of the phone was not familiar but she said I saw your blog on Sarah Palin coming to The Villages and I can't get tickets! We have an autistic child and we need help for her, my husband wants to go but we need tickets!!!

With tears streaming down my face I told her I had 2 tickets in my hand she could have them, come and get them.

I just love the plans we make, thinking we are in control of our lives and then God had His plan all along!

The turn out was estimated at 60,000-70,000 people AMAZING!

When an email says forward to X amount of friends and blah blah will happen I delete it! Period. This one got me. As a Native New Yorker I am imploring you to join me in this and share this email (Blog) that I received with everyone you know.

We are all facing a very divisive time right now with the elections so close we can smell the heat. Don't let us forget our history because of the present circumstances.

Here is the email:

On Thursday, September 11th, 2008, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this seventh anniversary of one our country's worst tragedies. We do this honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds

Action Plan :
So, here's what we need you to do ...
(1) Forward this email (Blog) to everyone you know (at least 11 people). Please don't be the one to break this chain. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.

(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Rumors, rumors everywhere but not a truth to speak!

The President did this, the candidates lied, their VP choices stand for this or that.

Do you really know? Do you really know what is going on in the world, in political arenas? In other people's minds? in other areas?

By the reports on the media and things I've heard from people out of state, you would think the state of Florida is under water and all the homes are destroyed. NOT HARDLY!!! In fact here in Ocala by all appearances we didn't even know there was 1 or 2 or more hurricanes.

Rumors are such a deceitful thing and create hate & fear and even cause us to do things that we wouldn't normally do.

Yesterday I watched the news about this little girl Caylee. VERY SAD! All indications point to the fact that she is dead, but the rumors have stirred up so much emotion, anger & hate and those rumors are fueled by the media. The grandfather is now facing charges of battery because he pushed some people off his property. Why??? Because of rumors!

I am not defending or denying right or wrong involvement, I'm just saying don't yield to the rumors that want to stir your emotions to the point of anger. We all need to guard ourselves against the hostilities that rumors bring on a daily basis.

Just yesterday I spoke with a family member who defended another family member for a very offensive act against our family. This act occurred nearly 7 years ago. For a while I dwelled on it, I got angry and I wanted to act on that anger. I had to hand it over to God! I have to forgive for my sake as well as theirs.

My Great Grandma had a wonderful expression: "Only the spoon that stirs the pot knows what is going on inside"

So for me, I choose to embrace the truth and stop giving place to rumors!
