laguna beach: One Minute Housing Report ~ It's a Great Time to Sell (and Buy)! - 02/18/11 09:44 PM
Is now a better time to buy a home or to sell a home? The general consensus is that the housing market has hit a long-awaited neutral spot, meaning that prices have somewhat stabilized but could still go down a little or up a little. It's a good time to sell! If you believe that the banks are holding on to a shadow inventory of homes that will be released on the market causing a downward pressure on prices then it's better to sell now before prices drop. It's a good time to buy! Home prices have come down drastically from

laguna beach: Laguna Art Museum Exhibits Artist John Paul Jones - 12/02/10 09:34 PM
I was fortunate to attend UCI at a time when the Fine Arts department was enjoying a resurgence of attention to the arts. Every quarter we would have visiting artists come in and teach classes; there was Billie Al Bengston, Joe Goode, Ed Moses and other highly accomplished artists who would critique your work and tell stories but what we as students found most interesting was their insight into the fine art world. The reason this comes to mind is the excellent show at the Laguna Art Museum featuring the works of John Paul Jones who died in 1999. John

laguna beach: What's Ahead for Home Loans in 2010? - 01/18/10 09:16 PM
This Week's Talking Point from ZipRealty Agent Brian Jones What's Ahead for Home Loans in 2010? This year could bring significant changes from 2009 for those seeking home loans. Over the last year, home prices fell to 2003 and earlier levels in many parts of the country. In addition, home loan rates declined to the lowest levels on record and this combination led to the highest home affordability levels ever recorded. Here's a recap of what happened in 2009 and what you need to know for the year ahead. Would You Like a Sweetener with that Rate? Interest rates throughout 2009

laguna beach: Laguna Beach Real Estate: Classic Car Show in Downtown Laguna - 10/22/08 10:56 PM
The annual Laguna Beach Classic Car Show was held on a cool fall Sunday in October. This event is sponsored by the local Rotary organization and takes place on the grounds of the Festival of Arts, the location of the local art shows that take place every summer. The show was like attending a class on the history of car design. American muscle cars - Corvettes, Camaros, Barracudas, hot rods - looking like they just came off of the lot - ready to growl, eat up blacktop and guzzle 29 cent gas. Classic Jaguars, Fiats, and Aston Martins. Elegant Rolls

laguna beach: Orange County Real Estate - Laguna Playhouse - 11/26/07 11:31 PM
I admit it, I'm a closet country music fan. When I saw that The Laguna Playhouse was offering "Hank Williams: Lost Highway" I was drawn to it like sequins to a Nudie jacket. My lovely wife bought tickets and our close friends joined us for an evening of Hank. The Laguna Playhouse is a small intimate theatre established over 85 years ago and has become one of the leading community theatres in the country. Located in Laguna Canyon next to the Festival of Arts, the Playhouse is a wonderful way to spend the evening and there is not a bad seat in the house. In fact, when the lights came up for the

laguna beach: Who's the Boss? - 11/04/07 07:32 PM
I took my daughter to experience Bruce Springsteen at the venerable Los Angeles Sports Arena last week. I had promised her that if Bruce got back together with his group, the E Street Band, we would find a way to go. It was 27 years ago that my wife and I saw Bruce prove it all night in the same arena and left feeling exhilarated. The Boss still pours as much ragged passion as humanly possible into his performance. For those that haven't witnessed him live the shows are equivalent to a good old fashioned tent revival - always impassioned, articulate

laguna beach: Why You Should Purchase Your Next Home In Laguna Beach, CA. - 09/17/07 04:43 PM
A post for the Buyer Challenge Contest Hi Paris, How nice to hear from you! I'm very excited to help you find a beach get-away and have several properties that you may be interested in. I know that you are familiar with Laguna Beach through one of the stars of the MTV reality show "Laguna Beach" ...but we won't go there. Most of the time Laguna is a quiet little beach town but don't let that stop you from buying here. There's plenty of night life and several new clubs have opened including Mosun/Club M, a popular club in downtown Laguna. The weekends

laguna beach: We're Getting Our Town Back! - 09/06/07 05:04 PM
We're getting our town back!! Summer is over, the Art Festivals are closed, vacationers have packed their bags, school has started and our little beach town is quiet once again. You may think of Laguna Beach as a laid back artist community but in the summer you can't swing a beach towel without hitting someone. Don't get me wrong, I love the Festival of Art, the Sawdust Festival and the Pageant of the Masters. Our art scene supports many artists and craftsman (my sister-in-law included - an outstanding jeweler) who work year round to build up their inventories of pottery, paintings, jewelry

laguna beach: We're Number One!! - 08/20/07 08:47 PM
Once again our little town of Laguna Beach grabbed the media spotlight after the "Today Show" presented a new federal report that ranked Laguna Beach as a top beach in a nationwide study. "We issued the 17th annual best and worst beaches in the country and this year Laguna Beach got the top of the list," said Natural Resources Defense Council spokesperson Hamlet Paoletti. Now that MTV has moved up the coast to Newport Beach to shine the spotlight on their spoiled high school kids, Laguna can get back to what it does best - present an extremely charming and livable small town.

laguna beach: Might As Well Play Golf - 08/07/07 11:38 AM
It's a tough real estate market out there. So what do I do? I play golf. I play golf with a group of Realtors. Misery loves company? Not really, we're just avid golfers and since our work days extend to the weekends we try to set aside one day during the week to play golf. Our informal group is comprised of Realtors, mortgage brokers, title rep's, etc. Of course, anyone is welcome to play but this group tends to be affiliated with real estate. We call ourselves the Laguna Hackers which always gets a chuckle at the pro shop when you pay
