Can I believe what I just heard? Did Obama actually"reach out" ? - 11/07/10 11:12 PM
I saw the President tonight on 60 minutes- not because I wanted to see or hear him, but I wanted to see the interview with the great Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao.  Manny was on in the last segment, so I was kind of forced to watch the interview with President Obama.
Although I'm not an ardent fan of this President, I must say that I heard him say things tonight that gave me some hope.
Even if his answers to some tough questions from Steve Kroft were based on political pressure, I saw him in a different light.

Why do we have day light saving time? - 11/06/10 07:06 PM
That was the question posed to me by the Korean lady who runs our local store this morning. She thought it was a weird American "thing".
All I could think of as an answer was that I thought it had something to do with saving energy.  What I remember as a child in the 50's was that the idea was controversial in Washington State - or at least in the minds of my Mom and Dad.

Have you noticed that almost every where you go to shop, that the clerks are more friendly, they say "thank you" (except the post office) and they tell you that they want you to come back?
It must be a sign of the times, but I'm kind'a diggin it!
With the stark reality that you're lucky to have a job, combined with corporate trying to hang on to their share of the market, it's refreshing to me as a consumer to have a lot of attention, and have people fall all over themselves trying to help me, instead of the way … (5 comments)
