The Power of Seeds - 02/16/10 09:06 AM

The Power of Seeds

Seeds are often included with nuts in nutritional analysis, and in fact, a nut is the seed of a tree. However, those foods generally accepted as seeds and called such include flax, sesame, pumpkin, hemp, and sunflower.

Each seed contains the potential life of a plant, so a lot of energy and nutrition is packed into these tiny, crunchy foods. They are full of nutrients, fiber and healthy fats in varying proportions. Here is a list of some of the commonly available seeds and their nutritional value and potential health benefits.

Top 5 Reasons Not To Bury Your Loved Ones Next To The Driveway - 02/15/10 09:39 PM
Why on Earth would anyone need to hear the Top 5 reasons not to bury your loved ones next to the driveway?  You would think that would be a no brainer, or that it would be illegal, or that at least you couldn't do it in a residential neighborhood of lot & block homes.  Maybe in some places it is illegal, but it's apparently okay in Pensacola, FL.  And apparently, nobody keeps records of these "home burial" events.  I recently had the experience of having a buyer place an offer on this property, only to notice the "monument" under the tree … (14 comments)

Garden = A Place of Healing - 02/15/10 09:26 AM
Garden = A Place of Healing
The healing nature of a garden is actually an ancient concept. The famous Hanging Gardens of Babylon were built by King Nebuchadnezzar to comfort his homesick wife, Amyitis. From Japanese Zen gardens to medieval monastic gardens to modern therapy gardens, the healing power of nature has long been recognized in the form of gardening.
What is it about gardening that makes it so effective at lifting the spirits? What form does gardening take today?

Pensacola Naval Air Station Museum Play Area - 02/14/10 10:10 PM
If you have kids, and you haven't been to the Pensacola National Naval Aviation Museum lately, then you are in for a treat!  They have added a new play area for younger children that offers an aviation themed play-set named the "USS Kiddie Hawk".  This interactive play area was designed like a flight deck of an aircraft carrier, and has periscopes, mock control panels, and everything you would expect to find on a real flight deck.  The area around the "flight deck" is safely padded with rubber matting, and during my visit, the area was kept very clean and organized.  There … (0 comments)
