What I did on Labor Day 2007...What did you do?

I attended the West Indian-American Labor Day Carnival/Parade. Held in Brooklyn New York, annually.

Can you taste it? Oxtail, Rice and peas, Jerk Chicken, Curry chicken, Beef Patties, Coconut water, Sorrel juice, Cow-foot soup, Callaoo, Plantains, Roasted corn and stew chicken was just some of the food served at the parade.

Can you hear it? The sound of Soca, Reggae, and Calypso had everyone dancing on the streets.

Eastern Parkway was full for the Brooklyn West Indian-American Parade. (Eastern Parkway is a street in Brooklyn New York that runs from the Ocean Hill/Brownsville section of Brooklyn, through Crown Heights to Prospect Heights Brooklyn down by Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Museum.)

I have seen the parade from my stoop, because I lived on Eastern Parkway and Utica ave for a few years. However this year was the first year I actually attended the parade. My husband Corey who is from Barbados got excited when the Bajan truck came. We jumped over the fence and partied behind the truck with the rest of the Bajans. It was great.

One of the reasons I love Brooklyn is it's diverse culture. Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados, Saint Vincent, Haiti, Trinidad, Panama, Grenada and more. There is nothing like being in Brooklyn on Labor Day.

Hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Get hitched in Brooklyn NY, We Did.

We kept it very simple. We went to the court house. My sister hired a photographer to follow us around all day. After we got married we went to the Brooklyn's Empire Fulton Ferry State park in Dumbo. The waterfront park is located in Brooklyn it has gorgeous views of the the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge with the NYC skyline. Then we went to dinner with about 10 people at Night of the Cookers in Fort Greene Brooklyn. They serve down-home southern food and has a live jazz band. The day was perfect! If you are ever in Brooklyn you have to check out the park and the restaurant

The Best Recruiting Technique EVER!

I am an active realtor, but once a week I pass flyers out at the State Exam Center, to let newly licensed agents

know about my company. One day I get a call and from an experienced agent who wanted to join my company.

He had heard about us and already knew he wanted to switch companies. I asked him, how did he find out

about me. He said " I picked up your flyer off the ground in Manhattan NY" Well, talk about making my day! My

poor post cards are usually used as fans, bookmarks (as the agents are studying) even thrown on the ground.

Who would have thought that thowing my cards on the floor was a good thing.

Which got me to thinking, I wonder if I went to a tall building and threw a bunch of my Postcards off the top of

the building, would I get more agents than handing them out. Besides the whole littering thing, I think that's a

good idea. Just kidding.

Blogging, What is the Point?

What is the point! That is the question I was asked by a guy in my office, after I told him how great this website is.

This question shocked me because this person is guy who I have considered internet savvy. I mean have been up late reading blogs and spending hours on this website. I could'nt be wasting my time. Could I?

Now, I am new to this whole blogging thing but I told him that from my understanding blogging helps your business tremendously. Most people start thier search online and by blogging you have more of a presence. Your potential buyer/sellers get to see a more personal side of you. It is also good for SEO.

He then asked: How is being on AR good for SEO? I told him that if you write about a topic for example like; Why are homes in Bedford Stuyvesant so expensive? when someone types in bedstuy your article might come up and it can lead to your site, thus blogging is the great for your business.

Neadless to say he was'nt convinced. He said: "I have a guy who I can pay to make my website on on the first page of google, So again, I dont see the point.

Maybe you guys can help me convince him.
