Virtual numbers and real estate.

The arrival of virtual numbers to skype last year has been a great addition to the the now vast tool set Realtors have for staying connected.

  • Wikipedia defines a Vritual phone number as: a telephone number without an associated phone line. Usually these numbers are programmed to be forwarded to either a Voice over IP service such as skype, or to a different phone line, fixed or mobile.  

The addition means that you can get a local phone number and this phone number will ring wherever you have your laptop connected. Yes this means that if your in Hawaii, if your laptop happens to be connected, skype would ring on it and you would pick up the phone call free of charge just as if you were back home!!!

What if you have a 1800 number? Simply forward your 1800 number to your virtual number and this number would ring on your laptop.  

Virtual numbers run at around 20 dollars per year. Quite affordable if you ask me. 

Reducing your telephone bill:

Skype also has a service for 15 dollars per year that allows you to call anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.

Skype is also selling phones that are constantly connected to broadband in case you do not have your laptop on all the time.

Researchers at Enquiro did an eye tracking study to see what users looked at on the screen. Results show that eyes stay within a zone they call the Golden Triangle.

72% click on the first entry that meets their criteria within the Golden Triangle!!

Where according to author Aaron Wall from the SEO Book in general, Google gets twice as much traffic as yahoo and Yahoo twice as much traffic as msn.

How to create space next to and around an image

To create a horizontal space next to an image

  • Add hspace= x to the code <img src="image.gif" hspace=8">

To create a Vertical space next to an image:

  • Add vspace=X to the code <img src="image.gif" vspace=8">

Where x refers to the number of pixels between the image and the text

 

How to put your text next to an image

  •  Add align left <img src"file.gif aligh=left

 Similarly, interchange left with right for the opposite results.

 

How to apply a border next to an image

  •  Add border= x <img src="archive.gif" WIDTH=48 HEIGHT=40 border=8>

To eliminate this border simply set border=0 

 

How to make a pic or text clink on screen - also called marquee

Type: <marquee> text</marquee>

Real Estate Product Testimonials Just Got Sexy!!!

I remember reading an article a while back on various ways to get links to your site (If i remember where i read it ill link back to it). One of the methods that cought my attention was by writing testimonials for companies you would recomend and include a text link or link in it.

Many companies, just like any of us, are proud to place testimonials on their web pages and many a time even on the home page of a website. After all, social proof is hard to beat. 

I remembered this while I was developing my real estate marketing blog and I was adding some testimonials on my site. While I did not add any on my home page, I did add some In many of my Internal pages. 

If your lucky the company has a Page Rank of 3 or higher and will work nicely in your SEO efforts.

 

Remember if your looking for a great SEO book to help in your Search Engine Marketing efforts I recommend SEO Book by Aaron Wall.

This allows me to set a benchmark for the quality of my e-mail campaigns. 

If you are planning on starting a news letter or would like to improve your e-mail campaigns to prospective clients or your network, this is the perfect way to stay ahead of the competition.

Steps involved:

  1. Start a completely new e-mail account to separate these e-mails from your clients accounts. This will allow you to track things easily and not loose any important e-mails. I recommend you start a G-mail account it has a very effective spam filter and large storage space.
  2. Sign up to corporate e-news letters
  3. Sign up to your competitions e-news letters
  4. Spend 20 - 30 minutes a week reviewing the news letters - make a list of what you like and don't like
  5. Implement in your next e-mail campaign

Today we will view how to:  Apply special characters - include a web mail address - include a footer

 

Special Characters 

Refers to characters such as: & <> (space) etc

These characters require the following format: &xx where xx refer to a character

 

To use the special characters follow these steps:

  1. Write: &
  2. Then the code of the symbol
  3. Finish with (;)


For example:

Accents        &xacute;          replace the letter x with the letter with the accent 

Space          &nbsp

<                &lt;

>                &gt;

&amp;         &

Note: you can consult http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/reference/special_characters/ for more characters. 

 

Footer 

A footer is usually used to indicate one of the following:

  • Theme of the page
  • Date of last page actualization
  • Name and e-mail of author
  • Company info 

 

To include the footer, you should do the following:

  1. Type: <address>text</address>

 

E-mail 

 

The footer can include your mail address

To include a link to an email follow type the following:

  1. <a href=mailto:you@domain.com>Write the text that you would like to open outlook i.e.yourname></a>

Real Estate E-mail Marketing

On the 31st of August I wrote a post on some of the very best SEO posts on Active Rain called the Rainer's SEO guide.

Having just finished posting, I thought to my self. With so many posts written on SEO and so many good ones, it is clear some of us on AR are being successful in ranking our websites in search engines.

However, how is this traffic being converted?

Effective copy writing is important and there are also many articles written about this on Active Rain -

How about the good old e-mail marketing and staying top off mind? I did a good search on e-mail marketing to do a possible review on the best e-mail marketing posts on Active Rain and found VERY few posts on e-mail marketing compared to SEO.

I then did a search for an e-mail marketing group, guess what? I didn't find any!! For this reason I started the E-mail Marketing Group in hope that we can all post our experiences and learn from this still very powerful advertising medium.
