Modern Log Cabins as Primary Residences - 08/25/12 02:05 AM

Gone were the days when log houses are considered secondary homes. The early years of the 80s up to the last few years of the 90s featured these homes near deep woods, lakeside setting, or near golf courses. But the latest trends in real estate development caused structures of this kind to move closer to the cityscape.

Some of the newest and modern log cabins are built near metro markets, shopping districts, and centers of economic activities. These are mostly fully furnished to provide all levels of comfort to the dweller.

Attractive as they are in their … (0 comments)

Light Bulb Moments for Proper Lighting - 08/23/12 07:06 PM

Lighting is not a complicated matter, but for some it becomes a complex task. Being complex in the perspective of others is bound by the misconceptions about light and how it is installed to give light and beauty. Lighting experts are in consensus that lighting tasks become complicated if the homeowner is unenlightened. But how can a homeowner get that particular light bulb moment?

Information is the key to bring spark in your mind and think of bright ideas associated with lighting in your house. If you’ll just head straight to the home depots, chances are you’ll buy the … (3 comments)

Never Get Hacked-- Chances Are, You Need to Read This! - 08/22/12 01:20 PM
Keeping integrity of the password is very important. These alphanumeric characters are like the keys to our sites and other accounts. Just like how we protect our PINs, we should also think of smarter ways to secure our passwords. The hackers have become smarter too such that there are tons of hacking tools out there which they conveniently use to juice out important user information.

Client asks "anything else besides paint to make my walls alive?" - 08/21/12 01:19 PM
In a recent sit-down meeting with a client who is asking help to market a property due to a job relocation, a question was raised which made me think as if I am a decorator. Pictures of what I have been seeing on TV, magazines, and on the internet - as well as the captivating walls of other clients flashed before me. The client asked of any other material he can use to make the wall surfaces more appealing and more attractive.

Few SEO Tactics to Increase Web Visibility - 08/20/12 06:51 AM

As promised, I will share some SEO tactics, of which some of you might already be familiar while others are not. It is a visibility game in the cyberspace today. To be noticed is the ultimate goal of everyone because it really matters to be successful – especially in an industry like real estate.

A common tactic employed by majority of real estate agents, brokers, and other professionals is the maintenance of niche-related blogs. Some own one while others keep two or more. This is because different blogs have different mechanisms. They are also treated differently by search engines, … (2 comments)

The internet is a very rich reservoir of free tools that can help anyone from kids to adults. While surfing the internet earlier, I came across a tool that really caught my attention. It’s a browser plugin that readily displays the page ranking of a certain website you are visiting.

I became curious of how well my website is doing on the search engines. I gave SEOBook a shot and downloaded it within seconds. I proceeded to its installation which prompted me to restart Firefox as soon as the installation was finished.

It became an integral part of … (6 comments)

Other blogger’s blogs, blog commenting and following - 08/16/12 12:03 AM

A common practice among Rainmakers is to follow the blogs of fellow bloggers and drop off some comments. While this is a conscious act of letting the blogger know that there is someone who finds his or her post useful, there are a handful of other benefits that blog following give to the follower himself.

One such benefit is the establishment of connections. Everyone needs to widen his network. A comment can lead to a back comment, to back link, and obviously elevation into the higher ranks of elite Rainmakers.

Taking the concept out of ActiveRain, are there … (41 comments)

Buying a house? Check its basement… - 08/14/12 10:00 PM

These days, it is very wise to inspect a property for sale thoroughly. Trust me. It will save you from many future inconveniences. Inspecting every part of the house including the basement will not let you blame yourself when problems arise in times when you are already dwelling in your newly-purchased house.

The basement is where you can check the endurance and strength of the entire house. Look for signs of mold infestation. Molds thrive in moist and damp areas. If you spot an area in the basement that has molds, the house has a possible problem with basement … (0 comments)

It‘s Good To Run the Spellchecker - 08/14/12 06:00 AM

As I opened ActiveRain today, I did spot a few errors on my previous blog post titled Information can be funny too. While those were honest typographical errors, I felt guilty of not having run the spellchecker on the blog post.

The errors are passable enough that could be left unchanged without changing the meaning of the sentences. For instance cardiovascular read as cardiovascular and Prince George’s County was displayed as Prince Geroge’s County. Sure enough, anyone who read the post would understand what the words were referring to.  But again, as commitment to those who will read the … (2 comments)

More Than Eye-candies, Images Are Great for SEO Too - 08/08/12 07:47 PM
I have been using images in my blog posts, but I was caught unaware of the true power that lies within them until recently. Believing that images are essential in adding aesthetic beauty to blogs or website, majority of us believe that these eye-candies are embedded to serve the eyes of the readers only.
Images can actually enforce the SEO-drive of a blog or webpage, because images themselves can be search-optimized. Through the use of anchor texts, alt tags, descriptions, and meta tags – the images turn themselves into SEO factors just like the content of the blog or the webpage … (3 comments)

There’s Halo-halo in Montgomery County - 08/04/12 09:56 PM

Inspired by a post by Inna Ivchenko about jackfruit, I decided to find out if there’s any restaurant in Montgomery County which makes use of jackfruit in its menu.

From my own research, I was able to find out that jackfruit is popular in the Philippines and its neighboring countries. It is commonly used by Asians to prepare delicacies and dishes. But what catches my attention the most is that jackfruit is used by Filipinos for a unique cold beverage.

Again with the aid of the friendly Google, I tried to locate restaurants in Montgomery County which might … (0 comments)

One of my previous posts titled Is a Home Office Ideal for Real Estate Agents? tackled about the necessity of establishing a home office as an extension of the corporate office that most real estate agents work. What your home office needs are basically the same things that could be found in your corporate office.

According to Chron.com, the most essential home office things include computer, multifunction devices, desk, chair, surge protector, filing cabinets, and office supplies.

The choice of the computer depends a lot on your budget. And because you alone control the financial aspects of … (30 comments)

Is a Great Landscape Pivotal Towards Selling Your Home? - 08/01/12 02:14 AM

Almost 90% of home sellers raise questions regarding the interior improvements they need to upscale the market value of their house for sale? The remaining percentage is divided to those who think that their abodes are already attractive to anyone’s sight and to those who thinks that they need to captivate the buyer just before they enter other areas of the house. Thus, in this post – I have chosen to discuss whether a great garden landscape is really pivotal towards closing a deal.

Many home owners utilize their front yards to maintain their gardens – be it … (2 comments)
