Farve in Purple... - 08/31/09 09:31 PM
#4 in Purple.......Brett Farve. :-(   Sorry Farve fans but this writer thinks it is a big mistake.  I watched Farve play the first half and I am sorry, but he is flat!   Out of shape and belongs in the Rocking chair.
The Vikings have a great young team...Give them a great young quarter back and lets play!   Instead, you give them an old man that may or may not do good and then next year have them learn all over again with another new quarter back.
Ticket sales have been down and hard to sell at times.  That is … (13 comments)

Need excersise, just go to the Airport. - 08/30/09 10:40 PM
After traveling this past month, I find that the Airport is the most exercise I got the entire time.   You are never on the sort walk to your gate, it is always at the other end.   Then, you need to go back all the way to get something to drink, and then back all the way across the airport to your gate.  Well, I ran across this story and it fits well...
I was on a business trip and at gate 35 when I heard the Public address system say..."we are sorry, but Delta flight 570 will depart from gate 11."  … (10 comments)

Let the Games begin...humor - 08/30/09 08:37 PM
In a short time the winter Olympics will start again.  (Well, it seams like a short time).  In the mean time, every country has their athletes preparing for all the pre-olympic games...World Games and national games Ect.  They will be splatterd all over the airwaves.   There will be all kinds of extreme athletes and some that you wonder why they are there, except for the chance to compete.   So, when I seen this diddy today, I thought it fit into this theme...

Chemicals...Use care when handling. - 08/30/09 05:50 PM
Chemicals...it brings fear to a Dr.s mind.   I have 2 friends that are Doctors, and both say it is the most uncertain problem they face when they encounter a patient with chemical exposure.
Spring and fall are the two most heavily used periods of the year.  Most involve gardeners and those treating their lawns.  Some, are just plain Stupidity and others are unfortunate accidents.
Tips when handling chemicals as stated by the Dr.s (they have asked to remain anonymous)
1. Keep children and pets away from all chemicals.  Including the area sprayed or otherwise treated for a minimum time as per … (3 comments)

Sometimes it takes while...(Humor) - 08/29/09 09:40 PM
The Doctor was setting a middle aged farm hands broken leg.  "How did this happen?"
Well Doc, 25 years ago...
"Don't give me a history lesson" replied the doc, "I want to know how this happened today!"
"As I said, 25 years ago when I started working as a farmhand, Everyone was in bed.  The farmers pretty daughter came out and asked me if I needed anything.  I replied no.  She asked if she could do anything for me, and again I replied, No everything is fine.  She then said are your SURE, there is nothing I can do for you.  I … (6 comments)

Fall Passion time is upon us. - 08/28/09 10:18 PM
For many of us outdoors type that means Hunting and some late fall fishing.  Small game seasons are startine and big game is at our door steps.   I am still getting some calls about purchasing land for fall hunting.
NOW, is the time...if you wait much longer, you will have to find a place to hunt that isn't your own.  There are many good parcels waiting to be snatched up and if you wait they WILL be gone.
Call TODAY...and I will put you in a place that fits your type of hunting or other recreation.

I'MMM BAAACK! - 08/25/09 02:40 PM

Yea... I am back.  After 14 days of breathtaking scenes like this....I am sill in awe of the the wilds of Alaska!

My agents did a fantastic job of holding down the fort.  I was able to keep in touch part of the time and when I was unavailable they handled everything very professionally and I thank them for that.  (It is the same reason I brought them into my company)
I have been on the phone and computor for 6 hrs and have touched base in one way or another, with every client and professional that I felt … (11 comments)

Let a kid tell a joke and you just have to laugh. - 08/21/09 11:42 PM
I got a call from my grand Daughter this morning.  Yea, I am still on vacation, but that is OK.   She said..."Grandpa, I have a joke for you."
"Ok...give it to me", I replied.
"What do you call a cow with no legs?"  I don't know.   "Ground Beef".
"What do you call a pig with no legs?"   I don't know.   "A Ground Hog."   Now she is laughing real hard
What do you call a dog with no legs?"   I give up, I replied....    "You can call him anything you want...but he still won't come!"
A corny joke from even my younger … (19 comments)

I now have a new degree! - 08/18/09 01:12 AM
Yup, it happened while I have been on vacation.  I find that I am very good at my new degree.   I now have a Chemical Engineering degree, given to me by one of the local Ale tenders up here in the Yukon.   I told him that I never experimented with alcohol when I was a kid...But, I was into full scale research.
Well he did me one better, gave me my new degree.   My final test to recieve the degree, was to turn wine, beer and spirits into URINE.   I passed with flying colors!!!

Do we work together as a family unit anymore? - 08/16/09 01:07 AM
I watched a great site yesterday.  A pod of 6-7 Humpback Whales Bubble feeding.   For those of you who have no idea iof what that means...It is where the whale expell bubbles under the water surrounding a group of prey in order to concentrate them more and then the whales rise to the surface in unison to capture there dinner.
This behavour is done by a family group working together.   In our society today, I seldom see this 'family' cooperation anymore.   It seams to be me first and with our lifestyles today...we just don't make time.
It is something that … (13 comments)

I fixed it...round 3 - 08/10/09 10:06 PM
I just seen my mailman.  His side mirror had broken off, and he had it duct taped in place.  It made me think of doing another round, so here it is.
OK...We are flying out tomorrow and my wife does not like to fly.  this is one pic I won't show her.
It may look dumb, but I will bet it is stronger than the factory bumper.
I wonder if the heater works?
And I thought the old 'donuts' were bad.  I wonder if this is a new GM idea?
Yup, that should last until someone leans on it.
Hope you … (13 comments)

Weekend humor. - 08/08/09 10:16 PM
My brother, knowing I am on the train while on vacation sent this little ditty to me.  Even though my wife is traveling with me I did get a chuckle,.  Maybe you will too.
Mr. Johnson and his secretary were traveling to a conference together by train.  The Secretary had the hots for her boss.  getting ready for bed the secretary says in a sultry voice..."I'm a little clod, could I borrow your blanket?"
Mr.Johnson replies...."How would you like to be MRS. Johnson for a while?"
To this she says yes, and starts to get out of bed, "good, then get … (9 comments)

Going on Vacation..do we get a house sitter? - 08/08/09 01:39 PM
Although we have a great security system that patches right into the sheriffs office, my wife is still worried about the house being 'vacant' while we are gone.   She decided that we needed someone to stay, but...WHO?
I was talking with a friend who was telling me about how his son is doing some on-line summer college classes.  He was complaining how the younger sibs were making it hard to study.
The light bulb went off.   Sam, I have the solution.  I called the wife and we had Jery come over.  The deal is...12 pizza's delivered and prepaid along with some … (15 comments)

Ordering On-Line...HISSSS! - 08/07/09 11:42 PM
I am not the computer geek as i have said many times before.  I hate ordering on line.  I like to feel and see first hand what I am buying.   I just ordered a camera a few days ago from a 'big box' store.  I cold not navigate the web site so I went into the store.  I still had to order it on line.  So, I asked for help.   2 people tried to help navigate the web site.  20 min. later we finally had everything ordered.  I was elated to know that in a couple of days it would be … (9 comments)

Time flys...and it wasn't even as fun as it should have been. - 08/07/09 07:52 PM
27 years have gone by since I was Robbed.  It was a heart wrenching occourence that today haunts me.  Although, after blaming myself for many years, I have since forgiven myself, but the hurt is still there.
27 years ago, I was at my parents house.  I was 19 when my little sister was born and she was like my own.  At 2 weeks old she went everywhere I went when I was not working.  I married and started a family of my own over the 6 years that followed.  That fateful day, I had stopped by to bring her to … (9 comments)

It's late, I'm getting Punchy...I need a break. - 08/05/09 11:50 PM
Doing some late night catch up and I needed a break.  A friend sent me several stories and this one hit me funny.  Hope you enjoy!
Bud and Jim were a couple of drinking buddies that worked as aircraft mechanics ( that should scare you right there) Pittsburg.
One day they were fogged in and there was othing to do.  Bud said, "Man I wish we had something to drink."
"Me too," replied Jim.   Y'know, I have heard that you can drink Jet Fuel and get quitte a buzz from it...Wanna try it?"   So they poured themselves a couple of gallses … (11 comments)

A 'GOOD' Travel agent is priceless. - 08/05/09 04:13 PM
2 years ago we were planning a trip to Disney in Florida.  We had never traveled much and usually by car so as we talked with people we knew had gone, Angela's name came up several times.
Angela Larson, Owner of Angela's Adventures is one of those agents.  She not only sells the trip, but she makes the trip to many of the popular destinations several times herself to make sure that she is giving the right advice, and tips.
We met with Angela today.  We are going to Alaska.  This is our Dream trip and have been planning for many … (9 comments)

I fixed it....round two! - 08/02/09 07:06 PM
Back by popular demand!  OK, So the vote was one and it was mine!    These just remind me of things we did on the farm to keep going.
Now this looks to be a lot less likely to slip out of your hands.
My dad and I did this.  Teh old pickup only had one light and we hit a deer.  So I stood in the back and shined the road with a flashlight so we could get home...It was 8 miles.   OH, yea, we got the deer also!
Now here is a guy taking 'going green' to the very edge.  I … (10 comments)

40 acres, private lake and the Rum River - 08/02/09 02:41 PM
The owner is just finishing up the outside touches of this great 40+ acres with a small private lake that is fe by the Rum River during high water times.  Walley, Northern Pike, bass and panfish call home to this little water hole.
The home built in the 70's is adorned with apx 40 ton of real stone all hand split.  (Info from previous owners).
Vauled ceilings and natural woodwork compliment the natural stone.  2 fire places, (Which now have inserts) can be easily converted back to old styl fire places.

The Rum River is the western boarder of the property.  … (5 comments)

An act of Random Kindness... - 08/02/09 11:20 AM
I was in a fast food restaurant which was fairly busy yesterday.  I had already ordered and was just waiting.  A young mom with her 2 young children were at the counter.  Mom had forgotten her wallet and had only a small amount of cash and was digging for some spare change.
I noticed an older gentleman slide a credit card over to the staff, and paid for the order without the young mom even knowing it.  He then went and sat down.  He never made a fuss and wasn't looking to be acknowledged for his kindness, as he had put … (8 comments)

Prayers Answered...Thank You! - 08/02/09 10:36 AM
I would like to thank all those who kept my Grand Daughter Corrina in your prayers during and after her heart surgery.  She is doing very well and even went home last night, only 5 days after her major surgery. (although I think that is a bit fast).    I have always believed in the power of prayer and the more far reaching the more power, and everyone here in the Rain had a hand in it.
Thank you!
This picture is from friday when she was starting to really come back into alertness.

I fixed it!! - 08/01/09 11:05 PM
American ingenuity...it is still alive and well today.  It does not matter if it is done because of need, money, cheapness or what ever the reason...it is what made this country.  Here are some example of modern ingenuity...
Cheaper than having the car fixed.
  Just as good as new!

One tenth the cost and still had a snack!
No this will keep the windows clear!
I think these guys have been watching the 'Red Green' show!
Remember, neccessity is the mother of invention...and some times disaster!
