I am applying Bandages... - 01/31/11 04:14 PM
We all try to be good people, but we usually fail to some degree. My life in the last year has been filled with controversy on many levels. Sometimes my tongue gets in gear before my brain. Here are two quotes that make you think... To speak ill of others is a dishonest way of praising ourselves.....Will Durant If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail...Abe Lincoln OUCH!! When I look at myself honestly, which can be hard to do, I need to apply a few bandages to my wounds. But,

A Sunday Thought.... - 01/30/11 04:10 PM
Who do You Trust? The question of trust is at the forefront of our lives everyday. Many times a day. This may help clear the air... A young boy was sitting in church, and for once the sermon caught his attention. The Pastor asked everyone Whom do YOU trust. The next day, this same boy went to the local beach. When he got there he looked around and saw a lady sitting under an umbrella for shade. He walks up to the lady and asks..."Lady, are you a Christian?" A bit taken back by this question she answered, "Yes

The iPod Series has come so far! - 01/29/11 10:01 AM
I am not a big Techy, although I think I am crawling into the 2000's now. I at least know what the iPod is and does. A friend of mine has helped me understand the iPod Series... It all began with the iPhone... This past March, for my son we got him an iPhone. He loved it. Who wouldn't! I celebrated my Birthday in July and my wife bought me an iPad. In August, for my Daughters Birthday I gave her an iPod touch. In October, my wife's Birthday rolled along and I bought her an iRon.

In the midst of out family chaos,Quality time is rare.Do your Best and Let GOD do the rest,A.S.A.P. Always say a Prayer. It may seam like your worries,Are more than you can bear.Set down and take a Breather,A.S.A.P. Always say a Prayer. God knows how stressful life is,He wants to ease our cares. And he will respond to all

Make sure you understand the question. (Humor) - 01/27/11 08:13 PM
I have many times heard someone jump in and answer a question before the entire phrase is given. here is a great reason to listen first.... A drunk man stumbled onto the subway. he sat down next to a Priest, opened his paper and started to read. After a few minutes the man says..."Father, do you know what causes Arthritis?" "Yes I do...It is caused by Loose living, being with cheap loose wicked women, to much alcohol and contempt for your fellowman, sleeping with prostitutes and a lack of a bath." The Drunk then muttered...Well I'll be damned." and went back to

Staying on top is harder than you think! - 01/26/11 06:35 PM
As I grow older I find being top dog is tougher all the time. The harder I try they young and energetic seam to creep past me. But as they do, I know that I am working smarter. Here is an illustration of what being top dog is like... Staying top dog is hard, there is always someone sho comes along that is stronger, or bigger, or faster or better! But, that does not mean we should stop trying.

You took my Place!!! - 01/25/11 07:03 PM
Every now and again I receive an E-Mail that I am happy to pass along. Common courtesy is one thing that is lacking in our modern day society. Although, this could have taken place anytime in the last 100 years...it still fits today. A man decided to visit a local church. He got there early and pulled into a parking place. Another car pulls up alongside and a man get out..."Hey, you took MY parking spot...I always park there!" The visitor went inside and found an empty seat in Sunday School. A young lady approached him and said..."You took my place,

Why did you ask my Professional Advice when you are going to listen to your neighbor? - 01/23/11 08:47 PM
Once again I had a client ask for my opinion. I gave it to them backed up by facts. The client came back to me and said..."Well my neighbor said...." My response was calm. " What proof did he give you?" "NONE" "What qualifications does he have?" "I don't know." "Do yo know how many Real Estate transactions he has done in this down period?" "None that I know of.' "OK, then what makes you think that he really knows the market better than a professional like myself." "Well, he sounded like he know what he was talking about." "Well, that makes

Not everybody is whinning about the Minnesota cold weather! - 01/23/11 08:13 PM
The cold and lately the brutal cold...as some put it isn't putting a damper on everyone. Many resort owner that rent fish houses and or put them on the lake and store them for you are have a great year up to now. The lakes in my area froze over the earliest in many years and that had many more people putting their ice houses on the lakes. When the lakes freeze over later, many don't go through the cost and hassle for a few short weeks. This resort owner said he ahd about 30% more private houses this year, and

It is all in the attitude! Minnesota Weather! - 01/21/11 08:43 PM
My thermometer hit -29 below. YAHOO!!!! Yea, it was a bit brisk this morning, but it was great. All around me I heard the complaining and I had not even left the house! In town, I hit the gym...quiet...one person came in and said that if they had realized how cold it was he would have stayed home. I did my errands and the stores were near empty. No line at the Post Office. HMMM, I could get used to this. But, one side effect of this was my phone was also quiet today. OH WELL, tomorrow is another day and

Years of marriage being celebrated! - 01/21/11 11:19 AM
I am at awe of people who are married over 50 years and still have not killed each other. We received 2 invitations this week alone, one for 65 years. God has blessed them for sure...Or has he? An old farmer and his wife were leaning on the fence of the ol' pig pen, when the wife says, "you know, next week will be our Gold Anniversary. Let's have a Party Homer! Let's Kill a pig!" Homer scratched at his grizzled beard and replied...."Gee, Ethel...I don't see why apig should have to pay for something that happened 50 years ago." Now,

What did I just say about Customer Service???? Part Two! - 01/19/11 01:44 PM
Yesterday, I wrote about a customer Service problem I was having. It involved a large delivery and after some hassle, I received my order. The next action was I was heading to the store to talk with the Manager Face to Face. I was just finishing up my phone calls and a few other pressing issues when the door bell rang. Here was my store Rep. I am registered as a contractor with this company. He had heard about the problems I had, and had talked with the store manager. The Manager asked to have me call. WE had a call

OK, Yes, I admit it...It is my Birthday! - 01/16/11 08:20 PM
Thanks to my agent Vern, (I guess you say thanks) I received several E-Mails and phone calls from friends here in the rain. I would like to thank all the well wishers for their contacts. Have you ever noticed that some days if it were not for friends and family, you would have no enemies at all? An example. My Dad, 79, called and told me... "Bill, don't worry, you aren't getting old. No, you were that way last year!" HEE HEE HEE! A friend calls and tells me..."The Birhtday fairy last year came and touched you with her wand. But

I find that I am aging, but not real gracefully. - 01/14/11 11:15 PM
With another birthday coming soon, I am reminded, especially by my wife, that I am not as young as I used to be. I can't do what I used to do, or, at least not as fast. Even my Dr. commented the other day when I was in to see him... "Bill, I am afraid I have some bad news. You are dying." The Dr. told me... "Well, How ling do I have?" I asked nervously. "Ten" he replied. "TEN! TEN what?! Months, weeks, Years?" I asked excitedly. To which he replied..."Nine...."

Mr. and Mrs. seller...How would you like to make a few thousand more on your sale. - 01/14/11 02:38 PM
It really simple. Just a bit of elbow grease is all it takes. Here are a few tips that can reap rewards... Wash the Dishes: You need to in order to eat again anyway, so do it before the showing. Make the beds: OK, you don't need them made to sleep again, but it makes the buyer feel like the home is clean. Vacumm the rug:It is a simple thing. If you vacuum the nap of the rug will be lifted up again and the carpet will look newer than it does all matted down. Sweep the floors: I know this

Are you Buying a For Sale by Owner and not using an Agent? - 01/13/11 08:16 PM
Wake up and smell the coffee. What would possess you to spend that much money and not have expert advice. What would make you think that you know how to fill out a Real Estate contract that will protect you if something goes bad? Where did you come up with all the local information that tells you what needs to be inspected before the sale? (If you are wrong the cost of inspection and repair WILL be on you!) Are you sure that the seller is giving you all the required disclosures. Do you know a good Home Inspector. ( No,

It has been a hard day for some of my AR Friends...So a smile for you! - 01/10/11 07:51 PM
I know some of my friends are down with the weather being so bad, especially in the south. So, here is a bit of Nortern simple humor to brighten your night. Da End Iss Near! Ole is the Pastor at the Norwegian Lutheran Church, and Sven is teh Pastor at the Swedish covenent Church across the road. One day they are seen pounding a sign into the road... DA END ISS NEAR! TURN YOURSELF AROUNT NOW BAFOR IT IS TOO LATE! A car speeds by and the driver leans out the window and yells...Leave me alone you scandahoovien nuts! From the

Have we learned nothing as a society? - 01/09/11 10:24 PM
I have been fielding questions on a site I am on about renting. Most people have no idea what it cost's to rent and are looking for a place they will have no chance of keeping current on. I know that not every family has been touched hard by this economy, but, come on people, what are you teaching your children. But, because you are not teaching them, I will and I will be hard on them so they understand what life has to offer. And, someday...they will thank me.

For my Christian friends. - 01/09/11 02:39 PM
During our Morning service this morning, our Pastor started to tell us what sounded like a joke. This is not normal of him and I was quite surprised. I was also amused by the story I must say, that is until the end. I hope this makes as much sense to you as it did me. A man dies and is at the Pearly Gates. "This is how it is", Said St. Peter. To get in yo must tell me all the things GOOD you have done in yor life. I will give them a 'point' score. If you hit 100

My husband is missing - 01/09/11 10:02 AM
I love my wife as my friends and family know, but, we do need to laugh at ourselves at times. In my opinion, this one fits the bill. Have a great day. A lady call the police..."My husband is missing." "Can you describe him?" asked the cop. "Sure, he is 6' 4", Dark hair, brown eyes and a smile everyone loves." The cop decides to do some investigation. He stops at a house close to the office and asks the lady to describe her husband..."He is 5' 6", overweight and has a perpetual frown. The cop goes back to the first

Where did the Circus go? - 01/06/11 04:32 PM
As I shared in December, I had a large Pole building burn down with all kinds of personal property. That property also included the Van I drive and the motor home we were taking our long vacation in this summer. But, hey, I am not complaining. We are alive and unhurt. The interesting thing about this experience is that I was bombarded with very good intentioned friends and neighbors about how to proceed with the insurance company. I have written about this type of a crew before. They are called... "Back Yard Professionals." They are people who have been through similar situations

One Good Deed.......Humor - 01/05/11 09:10 PM
It has been a good day, very busy, but good. Of course the way I see it any day I see White (Green in the summer) it is a good day. This bit of humor struck my sense of duty and I thought that I needed to share the laugh. Enjoy! The man shows up aat the Perly Gates and as St. Peter is looking over his life he says..."Well, I don't see anything good that you did during your life, but, I don't see anything bad either. So, I tell you what, If you can tell me of one REALLY good

I need to re-write my Goals for this year! - 01/04/11 07:01 PM
This is a good thing. I have just received a windfall and I am going to take full advantage of it. My wife gave me some mail from just before the holidays and there was a letter. "I", That's right "ME", have won the 'Publishers Clearing House Drawing." Yup, any day you should see me screaming and jumping around like a mad man. (Required in order to collect the check.) So, with this great fortune I am going to rewrite my goals for this year and maybe just sluff off a bit. Heck, I may just go fishing for a change. But, one can't get

I am the New Year! - 01/01/11 09:12 PM
I received this via an E-Mail yesterday. The message is great and I thought I should share it with everyone. Although, simple in message, it is great in content. I am the New Year!I am an unspoiled page in your book of time. I am your next chance at the art of living. I am your opportunity to practice what you have learned about life during the last 12 months. All you sought and didn't find is hidden in me, waiting for you to search it but with more determination. All the good you tried for and didn't achieve is mine

Not Everyone who was foreclosed on is a dead beat! - 01/01/11 07:19 PM
This is just a little something to think about when looking at rental apps. There are many good people out there who have poor credit because of a foreclosed home. Many of these people lost a job or even both jobs. In the current job market, finding another can be very challenging at times. When talking to an applicant with marginal credit because of a foreclosure on their record, ask Why. If they lost thier job and now have been working, they could be a great renter even with the lower score. If the person just up and walked away from
