The Village of Long Grove may be working its way out of the Well - 10/19/07 05:52 PM

The Villages of Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, and  Lincolnshire all  presently tap into Lake Michigan for their water supply. On October 9th, Long Grove's village board voted to hire Applied Technology to complete a Lake Michigan water study to determine if it would be feasible for Long Grove, a neighboring town to also pursue municipal water.  According to Long Grove Village Manager David Lothspeich, "the benefits of a village wide system would be a more reliable and quality source of water.  During a drought, owners of shallow wells may need to lower the pump in order to tap into additional  water.   Although it is healthy water, well water often has an odor or … (4 comments)

Stevenson High School student, Jordan Sheiner has been an entrepreneur since the second grade.  I remember when he was much younger he collected  used golf balls from a nearby golf course and repackaged and resold them for 50 cents a piece.  Now as a first semester Senior, the Bagel Boy is entering his third year of his bagel delivering business. It works like this: You can email  Jshein89@aol.com or call him at (847)942-3172 for his complete menu. Jordan delivers on Sundays  between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. Jordan will deliver hot, fresh bagels and delicious lox from The Original Bagel and Bialy (located in Buffalo Grove).  Bagels are $7.00 for a bakers dozen and lox is $12 for … (1 comments)

What's for dinner???? - 10/10/07 12:09 AM

Every day after school my 3 boys, ranging from 11-15 would ask the same question- what's for dinner?  Not knowing if a client was going to call me at the last minute, I was scared to show off my culinary talents and cook anything complicated or fancy.   Not that I knew how, but it sounds good.
The number 1 reason I decided to compile this to go list is that my poor boys wouldn't starve.  Please no violin!  Ok I admit I won't win any  #1 mom awards for healthy eating.  The second reason for the compilation of this list  is to provide a useful tool for any newcomers in town who are sick of the same … (9 comments)

Hi,  my name is Judy Greenberg and I'm a new blogger.  I thought I could just jump right in and blog without joining the newbie group- but I was wrong.  I don't know anything about blogging.  My first entry didn't have any white space and my second blog had too much white space.  I don't know how to add images, which pictures you are allowed to copy, I now know I have a lot to learn.  I'm sorry I posting this again- but I figured out how to enter the image below.  Yea!!!!

The Great Cub Team, an Oxymoron - 10/07/07 02:39 PM
If you live in Long Grove, Illinois you are probably either a Cubs Fan or a Sox fan.  I live in Long Grove and personally am a Cubs fan, along with two of my boys. My husband and my third boy ,on the other hand are Cincinnati Reds Fans.  Why did they choose the Reds is  a story by itself!
Unfortunately if you are a Cubs fan, sometime in the course of a season the Cubs are going to blow it.   That is why my father, Sheldon Cooper, a die hard cub fan from the turn of  the century wrote the following poem last night.
The Great … (1 comments)

If you mentioned the word Long Grove to me 30 years ago- I would have commented- oh that historical cute town in the Boonies- its a road trip from the Northwest side of Chicago! Well it is still a quaint village with 80 shops, galleries, and restaurants 35 miles from the city, but with the advent of highways, its no longer a day trip. I moved to … (4 comments)
