Recently I wrote a blog post about the future happenings in Lincolnshire Illinois highlighting the bands playing at the Concert in the Green. I noted that one of my neighbors, Karen Kiley and her band The Retro Rockets were going to perform on July 31st.
Let me tell you, it's one thing to write about an event in town... but its much more fun to attend it!
Many of our neighbors attended the concert to listen to Karen's band, the Retro Rockets and get together to have a wonderful summer evening.

Independence Day is an opportunity for Americans to celebrate who they are and what it means to be an American.
John Adams wrote that the Fourth of July "...ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other..." Still to this day, over 200 years later, we look to fireworks as a way to celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Every day after school my 3 boys,ranging from 11-15 would ask the same question- what's for dinner? Not knowing if a client was going to call me at the last minute, I was scared to show off my culinary talents and cook anything complicated or fancy. Not that I knew how, but it sounds good.
The number 1 reason I decided to compile this to go list is that my poor boys wouldn't starve. Please no violin! Ok I admit I won't win any #1 mom awards for healthy eating.
