If you are thinking about buying a home, think about building. You get what you want,not what someone else wanted. You are involved in the site selection, design, appointments and everything that goes into the house. Building new can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life. You do need to do research on the builder to make sure the builder is solid and trustworthy. You can ask to speak to the builders bank and also mortgage company's that have financed the builder's customers for references .

   New construction almost always appreciates in value and if for some reason the market is down , new construction will rebound faster than existing homes. All markets a different, but in my market this has been true for many years.

   New construction cost more per sq. foot than existing , and you might get more footage in an older home, but the new house will be much more energy efficient than older homes so you will benifit from cost savings in energy and maintenance cost.

    I have owned both new and older homes and I can say for sure that new homes are much more pleasant to live in....
