nature: TIME FOR THE GREAT BACKYARD BIRD COUNT - 02/08/10 01:31 PM
February 12-15 is the time for the great Backyard bird count. For those of you who are new to this it's fun and easy. This takes place annually and it's a four day event that anyone who loves birds and nature can participate in. It takes as little as 15 minutes a day or you can count for as long as you like each day of the event. You tally the highest number of birds of each species seen together at one time, then you report the count, and fill out the online check list at The Great Backyard Bird count … (3 comments)

There is some big concerns about the feeding of wildlife. Anything from Birds to Deer to you name it. Many say that it is unnatural and if you stop feeding, the wildlife suffers from the lack of 'Needing' to look for food.

nature: THE GREAT BLUE HERON-NANJEMOY CREEK-CHARLES COUNTY-SOUTHERN MARYLAND - 08/02/09 08:17 AM
Blue Heron's Preserve at Nanjemoy Creek was established in 1978 and has to date more than 3,000 acres surrounding the Creek. It is said to be one of the East Coast largest Preserves. The Blue Heron Preserve's rookery used to have upwards of 2,000 pairs of nesting birds. Now the rookery consists of 12 pairs of birds. Blue Heron's prefer Virginia pines, due to the natural cycle and Hurricane Isabel, it will be 20 to 30 years before the trees regenerate and the large number of birds to return.
