Keeping it Local on Thanksgiving I will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year. I have two local establishments that I rely on each and every Thanksgiving. Milton Public Schools Calendar Our neighbors in Milton MA start school a little earlier than here in Canton MA. Their first day of school in Milton is Wednesday, August 31st for grades 1-12. There is school on September 1st, but then No School September 2nd or September 5th for the long Labor Day Weekend.
