Once again, sponsored by the Salem Art Association, the Salem Art Fair and Festival is scheduled at Bush Park in Salem on July 17-19, 2009. This is one of my favorite events of the year. My family and I look forward to discovering new artists from around the United States. Whether you are into paintings, glass work, metal sculpture, yard art, woodworking or jewelry, there is something for everyone. Be sure to check out the sound stage for great musical acts and the food booths always provide great snacks. (2 comments)

salem oregon: Another Success for the Salem Art Fair, Salem Oregon
- 07/21/08 04:42 PM
Gorgeous weather certainly played a part in the success of this years art fair. Fairgoers and vendors alike benefitted from the milder weather. Past years have seen temperatures blazing in the high 90's. The Salem Art Fair is held the third weekend in July at Bush Park. There are many different vendors from all over the United States. A music stage, food court and the popular children's area round out the grounds.

salem oregon: FHA moves to Risk-Based Pricing
- 05/27/08 09:16 AM
When it comes to mortgages, one piece of important news got little fanfare. The Federal Housing Administration announced that it will charge higher mortgage insurance premiums to riskier borrowers and lower premiums to safer borrowers, starting in mid-July.
This will actually be better for good credit borrowers. Right now, the FHA charges the same to everybody in its most popular program. Everyone pays an upfront mortgage insurance premium of 1.50% and in addition to that, an annual mortgage insurance premium of 0.50% calculated on the base loan amount, which is paid monthly in the housing payment.
