There's No Thrift Store For Content! - 03/31/11 01:18 PM
There's No Thrift Store For Content!  If you're a bargain hunter like me, read on.  I hate to shop at WalMart, I absolutely abhor it, but I love to sift through second-hand items at Thrift Stores.  Strange I know, but the thrill of finding a good deal at a great price is addicting.
Perhaps my 'thrifty' upbringing is to blame... growing up poor, I learned the value of the dollar at a young age.  I learned how to spread that dollar as far as it would go.  I never had an attitude of expectation and I was incredibly grateful for whatever came my way.  I still enjoy the thrill of finding a treasure for just … (8 comments)

Accepting Self-Limiting Beliefs... Must We? - 03/28/11 02:29 PM
Accepting Self-Limiting Beliefs... Must We?  I've always wanted to play the piano.  I even bought a 100 year old piano and took lessons in my 20's.  Then, life happened and the dream slowly faded.
I've always loved to dance and I especially love salsa music.  Every evening, I entertain myself by dancing around my house to some cool tunes from my iPod. I've thought about teaching a class and inspiring others to shake some bootie, but the thought of organizing it overwhelms me, given my current business and civic responsibilities.
I've never drank... not for any particular reason, other than I don't really fancy … (9 comments)

It Was a Tough Year, But I Made It! - 03/27/11 03:35 PM
It was a tough year, but I made it!  But not everyone is as lucky as I am... - The economy is so bad that I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail. - I ordered a burger at McDonald's, and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?" - CEO's are now playing miniature golf.- When the bank returned my check marked "Insufficient Funds," I called them and asked if they meant them or me.- Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM. - McDonald's is selling the 1/4 'ouncer.' - Parents in Beverly Hills and Malibu are … (12 comments)

A Resume of a Different Kind - A Must Read! - 03/25/11 08:22 PM
A Resume of a Different Kind.  As far back as I can remember, I've always known I was a little different.  A bit of a rebel, I suppose.  My tenacious spirit came from watching my mother champion a debilitating disease, Multiple Sclerosis.  Perhaps growing up on the poor side of the tracks contributed a little too.
At the age of six, I started my first non-profit business... a Pet Cemetery.  I lived in rural San Fernando Valley, where land was plentiful (in those days) and the clientele was abundant.  Walking home from school provided a variety of roadkill (mostly possums) that I would drag home by their tail.  I happily dug shallow graves and gave these … (113 comments)

Social Lubrication... You've Either Got It or You Don't! - 03/14/11 02:19 PM
Social Lubrication... You've Either Got It or You Don't!  Have you ever had a conversation with someone and you thought they lacked a bit of social koof?  Perhaps it might even be you!  In this social age of instant technology and communication, some of us have lost our social lubrication.  Huh, what's that?
Your filter... the thing in your head that says "Better not say that" or "Don't go there."  Of course, we've all ignored the voice from time to time.  I recently called someone "carrot-top" without thinking how my words might affect that person.  At the very moment I blurted it, I totally regretted it!
While there is something to … (10 comments)

Speechless Sunday - Splinters in Her Pants! - 03/13/11 04:21 PM
Speechless Sunday - Splinters in Her Pants!  A woman from Los Angeles, who was a tree hugger, a Democrat, and an anti-hunter, purchased a piece of timberland near Grants Pass, Oregon.  There was a large tree on one of the highest points on the property.  She wanted a good view of the natural splendor of her land so she started to climb the big tree.  As she neared the top she encountered a spotted owl that attacked her.  In her haste to escape, the woman slid down the tree to the ground and got many splinters in her privates.

Starbucks Sells Tiny Treats at Petite Prices! - 03/11/11 03:21 PM
Starbucks Sells Tiny Treats at Petite Prices!  It seems everyone is jumping on the 'scaling back' wagon... Starbucks included.  Starbucks has just added a new line of "petite" bakery treats for under 200 calories and priced at $1.50.
Starbucks 'sweet petites' line is a new snack-food trend, where fast-food companies are offering 'low-calorie' snacks at 'affordable prices.'  Starbucks hopes the new line of bakery treats will supplement coffee sales.  As coffee prices continue to rise due to supply and demand, the new Starbucks tiny treats offer an attractive price to consumers.
In celebration of Starbucks anniversary, stores will give a treat to each customer purchasing a drink now through Saturday March 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Starbucks Sells Tiny Treats at … (2 comments)

What Was the Founder of Facebook Doing in Grants Pass Oregon? - 03/08/11 04:51 PM
What Was the Founder of Facebook Doing in Grants Pass Oregon?  Mark Zuckerberg visited Grants Pass Oregon this past weekend, and he wasn't here to see our resident Caveman.  Mark visited our quaint little town of Grants Pass Oregon... to buy a puppy!
A cute, adorable and cuddly Hungarian Sheepdog known as a Puli.  And what did Mark Zuckerberg name his furry new friend... BEAST!  Okay, no offense Mark, but I can think of a lot nicer names to match with that cute little face.
In any case, I hope you enjoyed your visit and your new puppy.  What was the founder of Facebook doing in … (10 comments)
