Iron Horse Park in Airdrie, Alberta just north of Calgary, may be required to re-locate in 2016 when its lease up on the real estate it leases from the city of Airdrie.
 
While the City of Airdrie is going to need the parks site for other city expansion in 6 years, Airdrie administration is trying to give Iron Horse Park as much notice as possible.   Unfortunately, officials from Iron Horse Park Airdrie believe that due to all the infrastructure that has been built into the site, it would be extremely difficult to move to another location. For years Airdrie had an Auto Wrecker beside the Railway Tracks behind Towerlane mall.  The 3.41 acre site, now vacant and owned by GFM Developments has now  been redesignate to as Central Business District.
 
The additional commercial land will be a welcome addition to our bustling commercial district.   
This land close to downtown Airdrie, Alberta, will be transformed into walkable retail space and offices in accordance with the Airdrie Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan.

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA - The City of Airdrie saw $201 million in construction value in 2009 compared to $184 million in 2008. Permit levels increased the second half of 2009, from the same period in 2008 with the busiest month being November 2009.   "The numbers are looking good, even with a slight slowdown in the first half of 2009," says an optimistic Darryl Poburan, Building Inspections Team Leader, City of Airdrie. "Airdrie builders seem confident that the market is continuing to keep up a positive pace."

Residents gave Airdrie a 97 per cent rating for quality of life and the overall Citizen Satisfaction Index came out at 3.81, which is second highest in the survey's history to last year's 3.86 rating.   Also, 97 per cent of respondents considered Airdrie a safe place to live, which was the highest score in the municipal comparison group.  The results were put together from 400 telephone interviews between Jan. 5-9, 2009 by Bannister Research and Consulting Inc.
