homes: Airdrie - Real Estate Market Report - 05/03/12 03:22 AM

Airdrie was a hot bed of Real Estate activity during the month of April 2012, with 81 Homes reported as SOLD and the average days on market for those homes only being 51 days.. During the month 129 new listing were taken which means we still have ample supply of inventory for buyers to select from.
On average homes were being SOLD at 3% below list price, so Buyers no sense in Low Balling an offer in this market, expect to pay apporximately 97% of list price.  This also indixates that Airdrie Sellers are educated in selecting an appropriate market … (1 comments)

homes: Hire Someone, or Do It Yourself? - 04/30/12 07:22 AM
When it comes to somethings around the home, we often end up doing a lot of the work ourselves.  But should we do-it-yourselfers really do all the work.   There are some jobs where a professional may be required.  These would include any job that might be dangerous or where a mistake would be very costly.  Some jobs are simply not worth the risk.  Some tasks to reconsider before doing: • Major electrical work• Any plumbing that involves work under the house• Siding work that requires scaffolding higher than two stories• Labor intensive work that may be overly difficult, such as … (6 comments)

homes: Airdrie YTD Sales Statistics - 11/18/10 02:00 PM
Well, winter has hit now in the North Country Fair, but before it hit the October sales stats show a decrease in the price of homes that are selling.  The seasonal sales curve indicates that we should see an increase in the number of home sales in October, however, this has not proven to be fact.  This year we seem to be approaching our slow sales period of Nov 15th to Jan 15th a little earlier than usual. September offered up 47 sales, 12 more than achieved by Octobers ( 39 sales). While sales numbers units are down, the time on … (0 comments)

homes: Rugs that Transform Rooms - 03/31/10 02:01 PM
Today's popular wood and ceramic floors can be enhanced with the right rug. The right rug can work wonders. To achieve your desired effect and make any room look...
Bigger.
Choose wall-to-wall carpeting that matches the wall color. Unbroken lines always look longest.

Smaller.
Lay an area rug diagonally across the room. The bare floor spaces seem to disappear.

Warmer.
Opt for carpeting with layers of warm colors like brick, terra cotta or burgundy.

Cooler.
Try bare wood or tile floors, skipping carpet altogether.

Richer.
Use multiple oriental rugs, as many as you can fit allowing them … (5 comments)

homes: All you ever wanted to know about Airdrie Alberta - 01/12/10 12:13 PM

Airdrie was founded during 1889 the construction of the Calgary and Edmonton Railway, and named for Airdrie, Scotland. Airdrie was a bedroom community for Calgary, a place to shop for (or fill up) cars on the highway north, and industrial centre. Queen Elizabeth 2 Highway  divides the community into two parts, though now 2/3 of the city is on the west side of the highway, 1/3 is on the east side. Airdrie addresses are divided into quadrants (like Calgary), with the more established communities located in he southeast and northeast quadrants. Airdrie lies on a west-facing slope with a view … (1 comments)

homes: VIVA LAS VEGAS - 02/22/09 05:17 AM

Viva Las Vegas -  Loosely Translated to English 'Las Vegas Lives'.   I just spent a most enjoyable week in Las Vegas with   my lovely wife of 34 Years.  We were totally amazed at the number of people down there, when what we really expected was      much less , since according to all the NEWS sources the USA is having a recession.

What we found was nothing had changed from 4 years ago judging by the traffic both pedestrian and vehicular. The Slot      machines were non-stop and  all the tables seemed busy at … (2 comments)

homes: CONDO BUYER TIPS - 01/20/09 08:25 AM
Condo buyer tips

Square footage can be measured any number of ways in condominium plans. Don't believe numbers presented to you. If exact measure is important, carry a measuring tape, and work consistently from the inside measure of condo apartments. Divide the asking price by the number of square feet to arrive at dollar-per-foot costs that you can compare.
Parking can be an uncovered stall, a covered stall, indoors but unheated or indoors heated and secured. Its legal status can be either assigned common-area space, or legally-titled ownership. If it is assigned, it should be protected by a formal lease … (4 comments)

homes: Informed buyers and informed sellers look at the facts - 11/02/08 05:18 PM

Informed buyers and informed sellers look at the facts

The facts right now indicate the real estate resale market is starting to stabilize.  Sales activity in September was slightly under the same month last year.  In Calgary in September, there were 2,006 sales at an average price of $390,599. That is a decrease of six per cent from  September 2007.  Canadian home sellers are under no financial duress to sell, and a number may decide to take their home off the market should it remain unsold when the listing expires. The resulting decline in listings should assist the balance of … (0 comments)
