sw florida: December in SW Florida / What are you waiting for??? - 12/09/07 06:23 PM




 
So I was out on the boat for a few hours today and thought I would share with all those who may be stuck in the cold someplace.
This is what SW Florida looks like in December. We saw Manatees and Manta Rays, plenty of Dolphin ( Like Flipper) and we actually caught quite a few fish.
This is what being in SW Florida is all about. Imagine pulling up to a sandbar and being able to have a picnic out in the middle of the water.

Headed down to one of the Local Bridges last night with Rob to do a little Nightime Bridge fishing. Rob had told me that they had done very well a few days last week so I was pretty stoked for a big fish. Arrived about 9pm and started to set up. Lowered a lantern hung on a rope down to the waters surface. This will attract bait fish and with the bait fish there we should expect to see some Game fish eating the bait. Its time to get in the boats and do a little fishing in SW Florida.
This area is known world wide as one of the Premier Tarpon Hot Spots. The world famous Boca Grande Pass will be full of Tarpon from now until about mid August. Thousands and Thousands of people come to this area of the state to fish for these Giant fish every year. Giant Sharks also will be in the area as they come to feed on all of the Tarpon that are here. Here is a picture of a Tarpon, just look at the size of this Beast.
