Scoop The Poop! - 11/26/08 10:23 PM
I was very entertained this evening by Barbara Walter's interview with the Obamas. They are indeed a delightful couple. So genuine and amazingly down to earth for a president elect and soon to be first lady. And, I particularly enjoyed the end of the interview when they were asked about their choice of dogs.
One thing is clear, Barack does not seem to want a yappy or girly dog. He favors the big rambunctious type. And, they both agree that their girls will be required to do chores like making their beds and "scooping the poop"! Yes, Barack even told Barbara that his … (4 comments)

Apple or Pumpkin? - 11/25/08 06:23 PM
So, which do you prefer???? What makes a house a home is what goes on inside....the people who make up a family, love, the memories (good times & bad), holidays and traditions. When I think of the holidays, especially Thanksgiving, the first thing that comes to my mind is PIE. I never can decide if I like apple or pumpkin, so I always have a slice of both. And, how about you? I am going to make it just a little difficult - what if you can't have both......Apple or Pumpkin????

Look what I found in my archives! Here's a little Thanksgiving humor - just in time for the holiday! I hope you will enjoy. Drink responsibly and eat until your hearts content....most of all, be safe my friends! Happy Thanksgiving!

What we're really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets. I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving? ~ Erma Bombeck
Thanksgiving is an emotional holiday.  People travel thousands of miles to be with people they only see once a year.  And then discover once a year is way too … (6 comments)

Surgeon General Warning On Turkey! - 11/25/08 11:16 AM
A Thanksgiving day nap after the big feast is a holiday tradition in my family. But, it wasn't until recent years that we discovered there is a natural sedative in turkey. Tryptophan is considered to be the possible cause of that holiday nap!
This year our family is scattered all over and we will be squeezing in the holiday. I will be traveling 3 1/2 hours on Wednesday and returning home right after Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. In preparation for my trip, I was just realizing that not only should I not have that glass of wine! ...But, now I have to worry about the turkey impairing my ability to drive! … (4 comments)

Perhaps Prices Might Just Stop Falling! - 11/24/08 11:01 PM
Buyers! Here you have it! ...Do you think home prices might continue to fall? Well, nobody can predict this, not even the leading analysts. Are you willing to wait and take a chance? I am providing some fascinating statistics from the Mid-Hudson MLS. Just look at the average prices - this year, compared to last!
You decide....
Perhaps prices might not fall much more, maybe soon we'll start to see the market bottom out. If you wait too long the prices could go up. Nobody really knows for sure. But, maybe it's time to stop guessing and start recognizing the value in today's market! There's never been a … (7 comments)

Are Fat Files Becoming The Norm? - 11/19/08 10:19 PM
I was doing some admin work this evening and as I was putting my files back into my briefcase I was noticing that I have fewer files which are taking up almost the same amount of space as the transactions I was working on several months ago. And, back then I had more files!
Todat my files are FAT!
I even have had to rubberband some of them together!
That's because every deal is taking longer to close and becoming more problematic these days. Much more documentation is required.
So, I guess this is a sign of the times - big thick folders.
I liked it better … (16 comments)

Thank Goodness For Luscious Eyelashes! - 11/17/08 07:25 PM
Please don't think less of me for admitting that I am a news junkie - always have been. So, late this afernoon when I got home, I turned on the TV - in preparation of the evening news. I arrived home during the last few minutes of Judge Judy. As I turned on the TV, a blurb came across the bottom of the screen, just underneath my all-time favorite condescending judge as she was dealing with yet another feud between a dysfunctional plaintiff and defendant.
Like I said, I just got home ...and I wasn't really paying immediate attention to the TV. I noticed there was something about luscious … (8 comments)

I'm Dreaming Of A Lean Christmas! - 11/11/08 11:32 PM
Are you thinking of cutting the fat out of your Christmas budget this year? Well, I for one am making a change. I will be doing things differently. I probably will keep within the same budget as previous years but will wait longer to shop and because I hate the last minute rush, most of my family members will be getting gift cards. My goal is to defer for as long as I can and simplify. I hope this will allow me more time to enjoy the Christmas season and feel a little less of the holiday stress.
In two separate conversations today, others … (16 comments)

Which Side Of The Sink Should A Dishwasher Go? - 11/11/08 09:52 AM
Literally, this is food for thought! A buyer called out something I thought was a little quirky when I was recently showing a house. She mentioned the location of the dishwasher. Something I think I've given very little thought to in my lifetime as an adult. But, I do live close to the Culinary INstitute of America (CIA), and my client where my client is a student studying to be a chef.
Now, I've owned 5 houses. Most of the time my dishwasher was to the left of the sink. In my current home it is positioned to the right of my sink. … (16 comments)

Why Must We Wait Until January? - 11/05/08 04:52 PM
It took me all day to comprehend what happened last night. My pre-election day anxiety is gone now, and I not only feel a great sense of relief, but I am very optimistic. I actually slept well last night after hearing news that Barack Obama is our new president-elect.
Now, I do understand transition time is needed. But, January can't come soon enough!

Last night, while watching Obama's acceptance speech televised from Grant Park, I noticed somebody holding a sign that stated "President Bush You're Fired.'
I love it! ...And, why not?
I will gladly volunteer to help President Bush clean out his desk or provide assistance with their household move. I would even stand … (17 comments)

The Next US President! I'll Just Wait Until Morning To Get The News! - 11/04/08 12:26 PM
I am going off to cast my vote soon. But, as far as I am concerned, further reports on the presidential election will mean nothing until all the votes are counted now. No amount of additional news coverage over the next 12 hours will make a difference to me or the rest of the nation. Yet, every television network will be providing election day coverage. Right up until the end, the media continues. And frankly, I've had enough!
So, I have declared tonight an official "Date Night" with my husband. I have proposed dinner and a movie! Because, by now - I am bored to death with politics.
When I … (8 comments)

Is Your Life On Hold Due To The Real Estate Market? - 11/03/08 01:03 PM
There's no doubt in my mind that declining real estate values have cost many missed opportunities for some people. But, I'm not just talking about real estate sales. I am referring to other non-real estate related plans some people have had to actually put on hold because of a declining market. I can name a few...
The baby boomers who were considering downsizing. They now have less equity to bring to the table for what they had hoped would be a cash purchase.
How about the career oriented homeowner who had to put that promotion aside, because now he can't sell his house to break even?
There are people who thought they … (11 comments)

Come Wednesday ...Just What Kind Of World Will It Be? - 11/02/08 10:41 PM
Is everybody in the world just sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for Tuesday's election results? Soon the entire nation will be changing before our eyes. Ok, It won't happen fast. Our new president will not be taking the oath of office until January. But, come Wednesday we will all be counting down the days as George W. Bush starts cleaning out his oval office desk to make way for his replacement. That reality alone is sure to spark some amount of renewed consumer confidence and hopefully bring the American people to their feet again.
So, with the whole world watching - what will happen … (21 comments)
