dutchess county: Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County And A Community That Is Up & Coming - 06/05/09 01:03 AM
I must admit, I was not too impressed with Poughkeepsie when I first moved to the Hudson Valley from a large Metropolitan city in the Midwest.  That was 10 years ago.  How things have changed.  Could it be that this town sort of grew on me, or is it the transformation that has taken place over time which makes me like this place more?  Okay, maybe it's a little bit of both.
Perhaps I was a bit shallow back then too.  As I remember, I was first disappointed because there wasn't a Starbucks and yet Dunkin Donuts was everywhere.  Eventually, Starbucks found Poughkeepsie and the neighboring towns … (4 comments)

dutchess county: A Smooth Transaction Is The Result Of Good Teamwork ...And Great Clients! - 05/01/09 02:53 AM
I LOVE working with first time buyers.  Yesterday's closing is another reminder of how much I LOVE my job.   Imagine, these buyers lived and rented in New York City for 16 years before moving to Dutchess County a year ago.  Now, imagine just how much rent money went towards their landlord's investment.  I'm so happy to be able to have helped them make their own real estate investment and I hope it will make a big difference in their future.
Just look how happy they are!  ...To think, I helped make that happen!  It's very gratifying!
Through the process, as I got to … (11 comments)

dutchess county: Another Pleasant Valley Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday..... - 10/15/08 07:50 AM
Nobody who's ever ventured north of NY City or Westchester County would ever imagine this! Only 70 miles away from the Big Apple is a beautiful and peaceful landscape. Manhattanites who come up here for a weekend drive usually fall in love with the Upstate NY countryside. Often I've heard it said - "I  feel like I've died and gone to heaven". No wonder one Hudson Valley town was named Pleasant Valley!
Many stay long enough to check out the local real estate market -  and eventually they become residents who commute to work in The City. The smart thing, for those who have jobs that are conducive enough is to figure out a way to telecommute. Some … (5 comments)

dutchess county: Hopewell Junction, NY - Ranked #31 Most Desirable Places In 2005 - 08/11/08 04:44 PM
Are you considering a move to Hopewell Junction, NY? You'll be sure to find it a great place here! In fact, Hopewell Junction was ranked #31 on Money Magazine's Most Desirable Places to Live for 2005. Cross the border of the county south, and home prices are significantly higher.

dutchess county: Commute From Poughkeepsie To Grand Central Terminal - Metro-North Hudson Line - 07/22/08 05:03 PM
From the quiet surroundings of Poughkeepsie ...NY City is a just a commuter train away. For the Manhattan worker, finding affordable housing is becoming more and more of a challenge. Many people seek affordable housing solutions in the suburbs. The further out, the more affordable. Westchester, Bergen, Nassau and Putnam Counties were once highly regarded as the affordable suburban communities, and commuting became the great alternative from these nearby areas, so close to Manhattan. However, many home buyers have found themselves priced out of these increasingly expensive real estate markets too now. As housing prices increased in the New York City metropolitan area over the past several years - more home buyers have been moving even further … (4 comments)
