Luxury Real Estate Moving to Mobile Websites?

This is an article from one of our clients. She recently had a mobile website created and could not believe how many people actually visited her website from a phone. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

Joyce Rey Mobile

"These days it seems more of us are using our phones to shop online. We are doing it while at work, watching TV, driving, and even looking for real estate. Statistics show that by 2013, more people will actually be viewing the internet from their phones than from a traditional desktop or laptop computer.

Knowing this is not a trend that will be going away, I have decided to embrace it. If you have visited my site recently from your phone, you probably already noticed that I now have a mobile website.

As mobile websites become common place, the focus is on simplicity. Navigating a traditional website from even the most advanced phone can sometimes be a bit clumsy. The goal of a mobile site is to make it as easy as possible for the “visitor on-the-go” to access information they need quickly. I also believe there is such a thing as “too stripped down”.

I am proud to represent some of the most beautiful properties in the world and pride myself on being a leader in pioneering marketing tools that reflect high standards while providing the highest level of benefit to my clients. My mobile site is no exception. Instead of going with an out-of the-box plug-and-play solution, I chose to make my mobile site as visually appealing as my full site, without compromising functionality.

Astounding to me was seeing how many global users visit the Joyce Rey site from their mobile phone. The map only shows visitors who have accessed my site from a mobile device (click image for a larger view). You can see by the red dots in the heat map that, since I went live with the mobile site two weeks ago, I have received a considerable amount of visits from not only California, but the East Coast and Western Europe. Other international visits include Brazil, China, Japan, Indonesia, Africa, and Canada.

The company that built this for us is Pressroom West. They are new so if you like my site, please visit them at pressroomwest.com

If you are considering listing your luxury home, consider the agent who not only attracts buyers from around the globe, but presents your listing using the best technology available."

Are those funny looking bar codes a good user experience?

A close friend works with a technology company that helps drive sales for organizations through mobile applications. He knows about my blog on AR and asked that I try to get some feedback from the real estate community. The solution has been proven successful but his concern is the average real estate agent could not afford the $800 charge to get set up. ( THis is where I need your feedback)

Real Estate agents were actually early adopters of QR ( Quick Response ) Codes. Those are the funny little square bar codes that are becoming more and more frequent on fronts of property signs, business cards, and print advertising. The end goal is to entice the prospect to point their phone at the code and access your online information. If you read my blog you already know that I am already pretty techy, but even I were not, these tags sure to beat having to call in to hear a recorded message about a listings.

Mixed Results in the past...
When I first started seeing QR codes a few years ago, I would always click. Most of the time I was dumped onto a generic website, and the problem with that is the sites either take forever to load or it is just too difficult to navigate a regular website from my phone.

This is smart...
My friends company takes your existing website and optimizes it for a phone. The best part is that you don't have to go through the stress of building a site since they are just extracting the most important info from your current site and changing the format for mobile.

"A local Coldwell Banker Broker uses it’s mobile website to give

prospective buyers more information about properties.

Links to embedded walk-thru videos, room by room pictures,

floor plans, map to property and easy call to action buttons to

contact brokers.

Also are links to mobile property search and local newspaper.

All information within 3 clicks."

To sum it up, I would love share your feedback and expiences using QR Codes in real estate with my friend. If you comment, he promises not to call you either. This is only information gathering. Thanks in advance!

Caimeiju Connects Los Angeles Real Estate Icon with Chinas Richest Tycoons

Caimeiju Connects Los Angeles Real Estate Icon
with China’s Richest Tycoons

At Caimeiju, we are a company of doers. Sometimes we write about what we do, or in this case what we do for our clients. This is one of those moments.

Sally Forster Jones, Beverly Hills Luxury Real Estate Icon and listing agent for the property, recognizes that international buyers are the key to success in this challenging market, so when she contacted Caimeiju to learn about our services, we were eager to show what we could do.

The Proposal
Sally informed us of her upcoming trip to China and asked for our help to prepare for her visit. She required her properties to be translated and promoted on the Caimeiju website, but most importantly needed introductions to key players in China for her to meet with during her stay.

Ask and you shall receive
Through some of our connections and a bit of good timing, we had great news. “Sally, how would you like to be the personal guest of the publisher of the famous Hurun Report and meet the richest people in China at a special dinner event in Beijing?” Hurun is best known for its “China’s Rich List” where it annually tracks the wealthiest people in China and is sometimes referred to “the Forbes of China”.

Sally was in China for 3 weeks and reports the trip was a tremendous success. Not only was she able to meet many high-net-worth individuals at the event, she was also invited to participate on a panel discussion for following day.

At Caimeiju we help the world’s top real estate agents market their properties on and offline to the fastest growing luxury class in the world. If you have a special listing or a portfolio of specials listings, send us a note. We would love to work with you.

Caimeiju speaks at retreat for luxury agents

Last month, Coldwell Banker Previews International held a special 5 star retreat for their top luxury agents at the Bacarra Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara. One of the main themes for the event was “marketing your listings internationally”

>>Read Article

Organic Chinese Search Engine Penetration

The holy grail of search engine marketing is to rank high organically. To achieve this goal Caimeiju employes a team of SEO experts based out of mainland China to make sure that all articles and navigation are optimized for the unique algorithms used by Baidu, Sogou, Soso, Cn.Bing, Google.cn and several other top Chinese search engines.

>>Read Article

Experience Matters

When people first hear about Caimeiju, they always ask “How can I get people in China so see my listings?” Creating a platform to reach buyers from China is not the same as a website to market to a European country for instance.

>>Read Article

How to use Chinese Social Media to Market Luxury Real Estate

Last Week, Caimeiju had the honor of participating on a panel discussion about international real estate marketing at a retreat for Coldwell Banker Previews International. Among international markets, China was top priority.

At Caimeiju, we promote listings online for our real estate clients. One of the many ways we accomplish this is through Chinese Social Media. In China, Facebook is blocked, Twitter is blocked and so is Youtube. However, China has their own versions of social media.

To all of you visual learners out there, I took a screen shot of a property we posted to Soufun on October 7th. ( As I write this it is now October 11th) The property is a beautiful penthouse in LA for our client Joyce Rey of Beverly Hills. At the bottom of the graphic you can see this listing received 1166 visits in four days.

Soufun is one of China's largest real estate portals, but what is awesome is they allow users to set up their own blog promotion pages. The down side is that unless you can type in Chinese to create an account, you are out of luck.

Chinese Social Media Marketing services like this example on Soufun are one of the many services we provide our luxury real estate clients at Caimeiju. If you would like to market you special listing to China, please send me a note.

Want real estate buyers in China to visit your website? Be on Chinese Search Engines - Part #1

How do I get people to find my website from China? I get asked this question all of the time so now I will attempt to answer.

The internet in China plays by a diffrent set of rules then we are familiar with here in the US. For one, Google is not the search engine of choice. Theirs is Baidu.

The Great Firewall of China - This is a term referring to the websites in the west that are essentialy blocked in China. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and even parts of Google are sites we rely on here that are not accessible for the Chinese internet user. Don't feel bad though, becasue they have their own versions and they are thriving.

Chinese Language Keywords - Yes, it is true! The whole world does not use English. People in China actually type in Chinese characters into the search bar. If your site isn't in Chinese then don't count on it showing up in a Chinese online search.

In this case we are talking about how to be found on Chinese search engines, so I willl leave the Chinese Social Media topic for another time.

In the graphic below I isolated the visitors to only those who found Caimeiju through a search engine. As you can see, the flag on the left indicates the country the visitor is from. On the right show the referring search engine and the Chinese Keywords the visitor entered taht landed them on the site.

Here is the interesting part: You see Google and Baidu as referring search engines, but look closely. The only visitors coming from Google.com were directed from the US; basically a Chinese person doing an online search from the USA. Now, if you even closer, you will see visitors from China referred from Google as well, but those are actually from google.com.hk , Hong Kong's Google.

We realize that real estate professionals are eager to give their listings international exposure. We also realize that many of you don't have the internal resources to create your own full blown Chinese websites with thousands of pages to creep up the rankings of seach engines in China. This is why we are here.

Caimeiju is a marketing service that helps luxury real estate professionls market their properties online to China. If you have a special listing that you would like to be found by the fasted growing luxury class in the world, please contact us!

Chinese Tourists: Hawaii's own Stimulus Package?

Last night CNN did a segment on options to help revive the US Economy. In one of the segments, Fritz Van Passchen, Director, President and Chief Executive Officer Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc stressed the importance in international visitors to The US Tourism Industryy. He noted that Chinese Tourists spend on average over $4,000 per vist and outspend visitors from other countries. Recently, Hawaii received their first direct flight from Shanghai and the local tourism industry.

Malibu Estate on Auction - Caimeiju Marketing Project

It is Friday afternoon so I am keeping this one really short. A property originally listed at $65 Million ( Yes Million ) is now going to auction with opening bid of $22 Million. For all of you bargain shoppers sitting on a pile of money, this one is too good to pass up.

All joking aside, I really just wanted to show off the marketing we did for this on Caimieju. The auction company knows that buyers for a place like this could very easily come from overseas, especially China.

If you have a special listing that you would think would be a hit with Chinese investors, shoot me a note. Have a great weekend!

The Truth about Website Translation Tools

In an effort to reach more international clientele, your real estate company may be utilizing popular online translation tools that integrate into your websites. With a click of a button, your site can be completely translated into almost any language. The question is do they work?

To answer this I am going to share with you an experiment.

The below article was originally written in Chinese by a Chinese newspaper. It mentioned a few things about our company, Caimeiju, and also references one of our client’s. I entered the Chinese text into Google Translate to translate the article into English.

If you scroll down to the “machine translated” English version, you will see that it is barely comprehendible.

What Are the Basic Criteria Required for an EB-5 Visa?

How Do You Find EB-5 Investors?

Should you Remodel Your Website?

Just like many of you, some clients find us and others we seek out.

Today I have been doing online research about luxury real estate companies in new markets. What I experienced in my research got me thinking about perception.

Theoretically, the searches I did today are not unlike what a potential home buyer might perform when looking to relocate to an unfamiliar area or a seller looking for a listing agent. This gives me a very unique and unbiased perspective. Since I am not familiar with any of the companies or local reputations, my perception of their success is based first on the quality of their website, and secondly on the quality of how they present their listings.

When I see a site that is outdated or poorly displays listings, this automatically causes me to question the broker or agents commitment to marketing. In this market, competition is fierce. Having a presentable online presence should be given. Just like a dated house, a poor site gives the same impression as an orange shag carpet and wood paneling.

At Caimeiju, we are accustom with working on the bleeding edge of technology so our standards are pretty high. Our clients already understand this and are now taking it to the next level on an international scope reaching buyers in China.

We understand that not everyone is top-level luxury agent, but there are many web solutions available that are not expensive and can make you look like one.

Who Says Real Estate Marketing has to be Formal? Check out this guy!

This blog post has NOTHING to do with Chinese real estate marketing, but I had to share. While doing market research on the Vancouver luxury real estate market, this agents site caught my attention.
www.ianwatt.ca

While many realtors have embraced video to promote their businesses, this agent has done it in a very unique way. By mounting a camera to his dashboard, Ian Watt offers his unfiltered real estate commentary to viewers.

We love unique marketing ideas. keep up the good work Ian!

Share Buttons For Chinese Social Media

China, One Share Button Away

Bookmarking and sharing services are nothing new to the social media marketing experts. In the English world, there are AddThis, ShareThis, AddtoAny, etc, which are quite simple to use yet powerful for sharing and data analysis. But when it comes to Chinese social media marketing, none of the buttons above works – the reason is simple: the integrated social networking sites are not where the Chinese people’s friends and relatives are – they use Chinese SNS instead.

So today I am sharing with you the 4 major Chinese social media share buttons, which I hope can make it easier for you to leverage the power of Chinese social media sites for your online marketing campaigns that is targeting China.

1. bShare (http://www.bshare.cn/index)

2. JiaThis (http://www.jiathis.com/)

3. Passit (http://www.passit.cn/)

4. AddThis CN (http://addthis.org.cn/)

You may be expecting a detailed review for each of them. I thought of this too until I found actually in terms of functions and user experience, they don’t really make any differences, just like the English ones you are already familiar with.

So the only reason why you pick one of them over the other three would be the style, I guess.

Chinese investment surge hits Metro Vancouver housing market

We pulled this article from The Vancouver Sun :

Chinese investment surge hits Metro Vancouver housing market
Stable Canadian economy and good quality of life is luring 'planeloads' of overseas buyers eager to invest

I am not too sure if "planeloads" is the most credible way to reference the number of Chinese buyers in the Vancouver market, but we do know there is considerable action up there.

"The demand for Vancouver properties appears to be fuelled by many factors -including, ironically, a crackdown on property purchases in mainland China that may be moving much of that investment overseas, particularly to Canada.

Local real estate companies are tapping into the demand, which realtors say is also partly fuelled by an easing of travel restrictions by China with the granting of approved destination status to Canada."

Click here to read the full article.
Below are highlights from the list. There are 189 US Dollar billionaires that we know of, suggesting that China today has more billionaires than anywhere else in the world, 400 to 500 billionaires, surpassing even the US.

• China has 875,000 individuals with personal wealth of more than 10 million Yuan (USD 1.5 million) and 55,000 individuals with more than 100 million Yuan, according to the Hurun Wealth Report 2010, released in May. The average Chinese with 10 million Yuan was born in 1970, with 100 million Yuan was born in 1966.

• Most of China’s wealth creation has been driven by its massive urbanization programme, led by property and related industries. The urban population is expected to increase by 300 million people by 2025, according to the Ministry of Construction, laying the foundations for continued growth.

• The top three hobbies of China’s wealthy are travel, swimming and golf, according to the Hurun Best of the Best Survey2010.Internationally,their preferred travel destinations are the US, France and Australia, while domestically they are Sanya,Yunnan and Hong Kong. They are spending 50% more time on leisure travel, a third now take more than twenty days holiday a year.

Property is still the biggest wealth creator for the Hurun Rich List, with 20.1% listing property as one of their key industries. The percentage has been steadily decreasing, from over half in the first year of 1999 to 23.1% last year. Comparatively speaking, it has been a good year for commercial property, and a difficult year for residential property, mainly due to government attempts to keep property prices down.

Of all the industries, China’s property tycoons are far and away richer than tycoons from any other industry. The average wealth of the Top Ten Richest Property Developers is more than double the average wealth of the next richest industries of retail and IT. - Hurun Rich List 2010

The pool of qualified domestic buyers for luxury real estate is much smaller than what it used to be. Finding interest from other countries is not only becoming more popular, but a necessity. Language and cultural barriers can be an obstacle but don't let that stop you from reaching the fasting growing luxury class in the world.
