Homes for Our Troops - A Home for a Soldier & His Family Part II - 12/15/09 10:47 AM
Sunday was day three of Homes for Our Troops Build Brigade for SSG Michael Downing's home in Middleboro Massachusetts. From early in the morning, the construction crew was at the site and pushing hard to reach their goal of making the house weather tight. Considering there was little more than a foundation on Friday, by Sunday afternoon, there was a house.

Homes for our Troops is building their second specially adapted home in Middleboro for a very deserving disabled veteran, Staff Sergeant Michael Downing, his wife Dawnalee and their four children. Michael Downing was the victim of an IED explosion while serving his second term in Afghanistan in September of 2008 and was left a double amputee. Michael continues to undergo intense physical therapy for his injuries at Walter Reed.

Now that winter is here and we are getting ready to celebrate the holiday season, this is a very good time to review some home safety tips pertaining to carbon monoxide. Make sure you and your family stay safe and warm now and throughout the year.
I hope that everyone reading this is up to code and has not only installed smoke alarm/detectors in their home, but also carbon monoxide detectors. Carbon monoxide is odorless which makes it extremely dangerous.
