barack obama: Health Care and other Debates - 09/09/09 03:09 PM
The news media is devoting considerable coverage to what the President may or may not say in his address to Congress this evening on the subject of his legislative agenda on health care.
It has been disturbing to hear the President presenting a song and dance about Republican opposition and distortions which have been the subject of Fox News coverage for weeks.  When I see an articulate spokesperson who has the dedication and direction of President Obama unable to make a coherent case for his plans for the health care industry, I feel that I am witnessing an attempt at deception.

barack obama: Farewell President Bush - Exit stage right - 01/17/09 04:26 AM
It has been eight long years filled with strife and discord for President Bush and Vice President Cheney.  Conditions and events which are almost unprecedented in our history have been met and dealt with in a professional manner with strength and resolve.  I have been generally supportive of the administration - particularly on the War on Terror of which the Iraq conflict is a major part.
I was disappointed with the manner in which then candidate Obama demonized the President during the campaign as a way to discredit candidate McCain.  Politics is a contact sport and all who participate at that … (24 comments)

barack obama: What if the Band Plays "Hail to the Chief" for Barack Obama - 10/13/08 05:01 AM
Salena Zito, a contributor for Townhall.com, has offered a sobering, if evenhanded, view of our possible world with a President Obama.  My philosophical differences with Senator Obama should be clear in the description - but clearly Obama seeks many of the same things I seek but with very different methods and relying on very different personalities.
The idea of an Associate Justice Hilliary Clinton is not news.  That would solve many problems for a President Obama.  A secretary of State John Kerry would certainly not be my choice.  But welcome to the world we may wake up to on November 5.  … (11 comments)

barack obama: Barack's Radical Past - Truth or Allegation ? - 10/08/08 11:45 PM
Dick Morris has published in writing for TheHill.com the details behind his video interview featured by Simon Conway.  Partially quoted below, the complete text of Mr Morris' article is found <here>.
My source: http://thehill.com/dick-morris/the-obama-ayers-connection-2008-10-07.html
"So let's sum up Obama's Chicago connections. His chief financial supporter was Tony Rezko, now on his way to federal prison. His spiritual adviser and mentor was the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, of "God damn America" fame. And the guy who got him his only administrative job and put him in charge of doling out $50 million is William Ayers, a terrorist who was a domestic Osama bin Laden … (4 comments)

barack obama: Quo Vadis - Where are we (Republicans) going now - 09/05/08 05:30 AM
The Republican National Convention is now part of history.  Tomorrow we begin the 60 day sprint to the November 4 election.  History has been made by both parties with the nomination by the primary system of Senator Obama - arguably the most inexperienced candidate in modern history - and the nomination by candidate selection of Governor Palin - also a newcomer to the national scene.
Charles Krauthammer in his opinion piece, Incumbents for Change?, feels that the selection of Governor Palin fatally undermines the best line of attack against Obama - that is his relative youth and inexperience.  I have expressed … (9 comments)

barack obama: Keep the Adults in Charge - Please - 08/12/08 11:13 AM
Recent events in the former Soviet state of Georgia offer a chilling reminder why Senator Obama's 143 active days as a US Senator may not be sufficient to promote him to Commander in Chief.
I listened with interest as the Obama machine morphed its position until he started to sound like Senator McCain.  Then I heard Senator Obama called the President of Georgia ! Say What ? He is not the President of the United States yet - his opinion is of interest since he is a applicant for the job - but calling the President of Georgia is out of … (11 comments)

barack obama: We have a real Choice - 08/09/08 07:55 AM
This Presidential election offers clear choices for the American public.  It should not be a contest of personalities because the two candidates present dramatically different sets of beliefs, plans and proposals that will reach every corner of economic, judicial, domestic and foreign policy.  So there is adequate basis to make the decision of who should lead the United States as President on substantive policy issues of importance to all of us.
Today, Jack Kemp weighs in in an article appearing in Townhall.com to discuss the important differences between John McCain and Barack Obama on issues of economic policies.
It is certainly … (16 comments)

barack obama: More from the Wonderful World of Politics - 05/02/08 03:26 AM
The life and times of Jeremiah Wright has damaged the candidacy of Senator Obama in surprising ways.  The nature of the allegations and the evidence presented are ideally suited for the techno world of blogs and You-Tube.  And if the endless looping of the offending statements on television wasn't enough, the video clips which inundated the internet assured that these video memories were as well known as the video of Jack Ruby killing Lee Harvey Oswald.
The Black community in America has produced civil rights leaders of historic proportions.  I have written in awe of the character and accomplishments of Dr King … (21 comments)

barack obama: Follow the Money - 04/21/08 02:35 PM
Regardless of the results of the Pennsylvania primary tomorrow, the Clinton campaign is simply out of gas.  Current figures from Fox news show Senator Obama with $41 million on hand with negligible debt while Mrs Clinton has $9 million on hand with $10 million in outstanding debts.
Mrs Clinton will stay in the race but is fighting a very difficult battle with no funding and an insurmountable deficit in earned delegates.
I have been very critical of the management of the Clinton campaign in the past with comments about poor strategy and poor overall planning coming from the fact that Hillary … (23 comments)

barack obama: The Image begins to Fade - 04/15/08 09:21 AM
I have been intrigued by the Obama candidacy.  Although I am going to vote for the Republican nominee, I have felt that despite the similarities in policy and voting record between Mrs Clinton and Mr Obama, the Senator from Illinois was the more interesting of the Democrat candidates.
The vision and the articulate presentation of his message has led me to watch Senator Obama since his entry into the arena at the 2004 Democrat Convention.  I have felt that the Republicans would be out of the White House in 2009 and it was useful to see what the Democrats had on … (15 comments)

barack obama: Mr Obama's Problem - 03/17/08 10:54 PM
I have previously written with great respect for Senator Obama as a man and as a candidate - and I continue to hold those views.  I do not agree with his politics and am not a likely voter but he is a remarkable and exciting candidate for President.
But he is beginning to have a problem which raises new issues for his campaign.  And it is possible that it is being orchestrated by Senator Obama's political opponents.
Senator Barack Obama Jr has been that rare political figure in our culture - a man of color who transcends color.  He is not … (13 comments)

barack obama: More on the Bumpy Ride - 03/09/08 11:22 PM
There continues to be no clear outcome in the Democrat run for the roses.  The remaining primaries are not helpful in clearing the mists because of the same proportional representation rules that got us here.  Neither candidate will gain substantially over the other because they will nearly split the votes in those states as they have coming up to this point.  It is interesting that the two Democrat challengers would evenly split the support of the voters when the policy positions of the candidates are nearly identical.
It is also interesting to note that both candidates have received more primary … (1 comments)
