Cupertino Home Sale Stats, two year report Sept 2011 - 09/30/11 07:23 PM
Looking at home sale stats for the city of Cupertino, CA.  These stats are for Single Family Units.

As we extend ourselves through August 2011, we see a sales pattern of peaks and valleys.  Most peaks occur during the Sunner and valleys during the winter.
Looking at last year, the largest months of inventory occurred in July and August.  It seems that this year we may see the same thing, but it might be August and September.
Last year or sales low was in January, so it seems that we may see that same thing this year.  In a few … (3 comments)

Have you ever thought about farming digitally, using Facebook? If you spend money each month sending out postcards/flyers/newsletters, why not take that money and farm people on Facebook encouraging them to “like” your Facebook fan page using paid advertising. California Airshow Salinas - Photoblog - Japanese Zero's - 09/28/11 01:56 PM
I attended the California Airshow Salinas this last weekend, and it was a lot of fun!  Some of the greatest parts when you go to airshows, is to see the vintage planes from times that have gone by.
One of the demonstrations that happened was labeled "Tora Tora Tora" which was the signal "tiger tiger tiger" that was used in the pacific by the Japanese Imperial Navy during WWII.  There was also a great movie of the same name.

It is not often that you get to see so many restored vintage zeros from WWII.  Some were bombers, and some … (13 comments)

Cupertino Tournament of Bands (TOB)
Saturday, October 8th, 2011
As you know, I am an alumni of Cupertino High School...  I am a native of Cupertino and still live and work here...  So I am planning on taking my son to this awesome event!
This event draws crowds from all the local high schools, as well as schools from across the state and US!  Band compete based upon band size so the schools are always competing against others that are of the same caliber.
They compete on marching in parade, music, percussion, and of course everyone's favorite the Field shows!

Photoblog - Driving through California. Oakdale/knights Ferry/Dentville - 09/27/11 11:19 PM
Traveling through Oakdale California, I took this picture in the area once called Dentville and Knights Ferry.  There is even a wooden covered bridge that some say was designed by U.S. Grant who was a brother-in-law of the Dent Brothers.
Now it is an amazing drive through a rolling chaparral meadow that sometimes breaks to a dry plain with rock outcroppings. That is seem through most of the foot hills throughout California.

When I drive, I like to think about what it would have been like crossing this mass open spaces in the wild west...  On a horse, in a … (10 comments)

Motivational Monday - Colin Powell on Leadership - 09/26/11 11:06 PM
"The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them.  They have either lost lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that you do not care.  Either case is a failure of leadership."
Colin Powell
I really admire Colin Powell.  How a man can achieve such admiration across a nation, and never allow an ego to creep in and rule the day.  This idea stated above, is so true.

Hope your Monday is awesome!

The 4H... Do you know what it stands for????? - 09/25/11 11:14 PM
So many of us have heard of the 4H...  We grew up next to a plum orchard growing up.  The end of the road...  In the back of the orchard was a 4H.  Pigs, horses, cows, goats, and more.  We think of farm stuff when we think of the 4H, but do you know what it stands for?

I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service and my health to better living for my club, my community, my country and my world.
The FFA is different from the 4H, and there … (13 comments)

Ignite - A new course from KW! (Written for KW associates) - 09/25/11 10:58 PM
So many things come to mind when I think of the word ignite.
Combustion, fire, flames, spark, imagination, light bulb… innovation.  I don’t see a small fire, I just see a fire.  I bet the fire you see is different from the one I am imagining, and yet they are both hot!  I am not looking at the actual size of the light bulb, but the fact that there is light in the dark that existed before that ray of whatever brightened the room.
When I think the word Ignite regarding a career as a real estate agent, I see something … (7 comments)

A Day at the California Air Show, in Salinas, CA (C-17 Globemaster) - 09/25/11 10:23 PM
The California Airshow in Salinas, CA was this weekend.  Many people that think of airshows, just think of the planes and jets flying in the air... And YES, there are many planes that get to fly, and yeah they are pretty awesome...
But...

You also get to tour and climb in some of the planes that are on display!  My son was able to sit in the pilots seat of a C-17 Globemaster!  This awesome US Air Force Cargo Plane is one of 120 or so that the US uses as it main heavy lift platform.  The airmen that were doing … (8 comments)

Dang! That wheel is bigger than my son! Photoblog. - 09/25/11 08:43 PM
Yup!  I thought that the wheels on my truck were big...  Then my son and I passed up this moster truck, and the tires were HUGE!  We all know that the trucks are big, but getting up close to the wheels is pretty amazing!

So I did not want to pass up the opportunity to have my son climb up into the wheel well and snap this awesome picture!

I thought I would take a few steps back so I would be able to remember the size better.
We were at the California Air Show in Salinas, CA.  Tons … (12 comments)

Praying Mantis - Photoblog Saturday - 09/24/11 11:36 PM
My son and I were strolling along the docks at Lake Don Pedro.  Located near La Grange, California.  It was surging to 100 degrees and we HAD to get some ice, and ice cream!  We stopped to help some boaters guide their boat into a slip, and right there, on the railing was a praying mantis!

Out here in California, we don't see them very often, and it had been a few years since my last sighting...  Funny, sounds like I am talking about a UFO or something!

We even left and had our ice cream, and went back … (14 comments)

Gotta love the guys over at ActiveRain!
The road warriors were out and in effect at Keller Williams Mega Camp in Austin Texas!  The annual event occurs in late September and this year drew over 10,000 agents from all across the country.  Learning from the likes of Gary Keller, Jay Papasan, Stefan Swanepoel, Ben Kinney, Ken DeLeon, Chris Heller and our keynote speaker Marcus Buckingham (who write some bool).

Ken DeLeon - Amazing!
The music started, the lights started flashing and two dynamic individuals came rushing on the stage…  Not walking, but dancing!  Yes dancing…  Now these weren’t the cheerleaders from the morning session, and they were not some of our wonderful KW family demonstrating our culture…  It was Ken DeLoen and Diana Kokoszka!  Yes, Ken got our awesome Diana dancing on stage in front of our KW leaders from across our company.  And yes, they BOTH had some great moves!
I am not sure if Ken ever stopped dancing though his amazing story about his way to the … (15 comments)

It seems that all of the real estate events I go to, I run into Stefan Swanepoel!  And at this years Keller Williams Mega Agent Camp was no different!
Stefan was a keynote speaker during the event that is going on all week.  Walking the halls, enjoying insightful and deep conversations and debates about current events that we are tackling in the Real Estate Biz.  And of course, his presentation was packed!

What a great day at Keller Williams Mega-Technology Camp, 2011! (Austin, Texas)
Part of Mega Camp, Sept 19-22 2011
Technology…  It seems that there are so many people, companies, products and sites pushing technology.  They say that THEIR product is the best, that their ideas will help you achieve success faster than anything else.  There are camps and seminars all aimed at helping agent overcome their biggest hurdle these days, which seem to center around technology.  From facebook to cragslist to twitter to google…  You go to these classes, then are pushed to buy what it is they are offering to … (8 comments)

Motivational Monday - Never Give Up - President Nixon - 09/19/11 01:11 PM

"You must never give up.  You must remember that you have to take risks in order to achieve anything and sometimes you will suffer defeat.  But the mark of any individual is to recover from defeat and disappointment and go on and give it his best shot."

Richard M. Nixon

I am not sure if I can add anything better to what President Nixon said.  In order to achieve higher levels of success or growth, you WILL suffer defeats...  Either we learn, and grow, and push on after those defeats, or give up.  The choice is ours!

Looking out the plane window, Austin Texas. (Looking at the storms!) - 09/18/11 11:17 PM
As most of you know, I am headed to Austin, Texas this week to attend KW's Mega Agent/Leadership camp out here.  Our flight was smooth and uneventful until we had to descend into Austin...  There are showers and thunderstorms in the area, and as I looked out the window, this is what we were greeted with...

It was a rather bumpy ride on the way down, but the colors in the sky had me glued to the window...  I was able to snap these cool pictures, but they do not due it justice.

I left 80 degree, sunny weather … (12 comments)

Views from Lake Don Pedro. La Grange CA - 09/18/11 10:47 PM
I had the pleasure of camping and spending a few days on Lake Don Pedro.  It is located in La Grange, CA.  You can camp at several locations along the shore of the lake and at designated areas in the campgrounds.
I needed ice, and sundries...  So I headed to the houseboat dock to get some supplies.

They rent boats...  Sail boats, fishing boats, ski boats, etc..  Lots of stalls, and a well maintained dock area.

As my son and I were eating ice cream on the dock, we noticed a boy looking down into the water...  I walked … (10 comments)

I told her that a cold call is an easier to do than a warm call..?? - 09/18/11 12:02 AM
I told her that a cold call is an easier form of lead generation than a warm call..??
What an interesting concept…
It would seem that on the outside, this statement would be an incorrect one.  We all seem to agree that a warm call is easier than a cold call in most cases.  (well, except for some of you, that thrive on the cold call or live of em, and love them, if so then you may not agree with this thought…)

A Day at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk!
Before I went to the Santa Cruz County Fair the other day, my son Ryan and I stopped over at the beach for a picnic out in front of the boardwalk in Santa Cruz, CA.
The great thing about this beach (our second trip there in the last three days) was the parking is free!  Either you go to a state beach and pay to park and enter...  Or park on the shoulder and climb down the cliffs to the beach OR you can park at the amusement parks lots for free!

Yeah, its a barn...  A red barn...  But...

I think David Hasselhoff left his car out front...
Knight Rider - A shadowy flight into a dangerous world of a man who does not exist...
Michael Knight, A young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law...

I do not think I could even try to say it any better than Theodore Roosevelt.
There are those that look up to you, and follow in your steps even without you knowing it...  When a challenge presents itself to you, it is best to do something as opposed to just sitting idle.

My son and I propped my camera on a post and ran over to take a picture.  It was a chilly morning, but since there was parking I was able to pull my truck over and snap this picture!

Ralph Waldo Emerson
It does seem that we all are inventors of our own dreams...  Of our own path of discovery.  Each new thing that we find aids in the direction that our lives lead.  Based on a dream that was planted there by someone as we were in our younger years.
Maybe that is why some of us like to camp and others don't...

Home Sale Stats, County of Santa Clara, CA. YTD August 2011 - 09/03/11 02:04 PM
Here are the home sale stats for the County of Santa Clara, California.  Home of Silicon Valley.
This first chart is for Single Family Homes.  This type of home does not share any interest with any other properties.  Looking over the stats, inventory continues to drop, but not rapidly.  Pending sales are also slowing, as are closed transactions.  This seems to be a normal sales pattern as we head toward winter.  Inventory is lower than last year, which can tighten the market.

This chart is going over condo/town home market.  Inventory in this type of dwelling is dropping, and pendings … (4 comments)
