RainStorm in Anaheim was a success!  My topic was on Foursquare...  And using it to grow your business!
Many have asked me if I would post my slides, and share with the AR community what my presentation was about...  So I converted it, and am posting it here!  The event had 10 slides for me, and they auto-clicked to be sure that all the presenters stayed on task.

foursquare: FOURSQUARE BADGE - TODAY ONLY (Feb 2nd, 2011) - Groundhog Day Badge - 02/02/11 03:17 AM


Yup! There is a badge that you can earn today, and today only!  It is the "PA Groundhog Day" badge.
If you are using foursquare,(www.foursquare.com) all you have to do is click on the friends icon on the bottom of the application on your smart phone.  Then click "shout" located at the top left.  Then in the text box that appears, just type in"groundhog" then the botton shout it.  You will then be awarded with the badge and the text in the picture below.

There are now 5 million users on foursquare, so chances are you know weveral people that are using the social site.  It is what I call a location based-micro-social media site.  When you start using it, you start to want to know how to earn badges.
The Starbucks badge is pretty easy to earn.  Just check in using foursquare to 5 different starbucks, and you will be awarded this flashy badge.

Foursquare Badges everywhere!
Here here is an easy one.  The American Red Cross Badge.
To get the American Red Cross badge, all you have to do is shout, "donation Red Cross" and will recieve the words, "Congratulations! Your blood donation may have just helped to save a life."

Yup, farming with foursquare!
So we farm neighborhoods by sending mailers, newsletters, giving out pumpkins during Halloween, flags for the fourth.  We doorknock the neighborhood to meet the neighbors.  We send just listed and just solds to gain more mindshare...  We visit garage sales and walk the neighborhood on Saturdays to meet the neighbors that we never get a chance to meet.
So how the heck would foursquare play into this?  I mean foursquare.  The location based microblogging social media site.  www.foursquare.com.  Where so many of us are using it to check in places and get awarded badges for eating, … (23 comments)

foursquare: 11 Essential iPhone apps (applications) that Agents should know about (with pictures) PART 1 of 2 - 08/27/10 09:07 AM
You can search for these apps on your actual iPhone under the apps tab, or you can search for these on iTunes from your desktop (either PC or MAC).  I have added the name in brakets ( blank ) <-- to outline the actual "searchable" name from iTunes.
The first is Facebook (facebook).  We use facebook to search to make contact with potential clients when they only give us email, or to chat with them, or access our FB personal/fan pages on the run.  This is a FREE app.  It supports your online version of Facebook, and can support your fan pages as well.

foursquare: Networking, blogging, microblogging, location based microblogging, media-sharing, review sites... Where do I start??? - 08/01/10 09:11 AM

It seems that I get this question every time I teach a social media class.  The student's get so overwhelmed with all of the "stuff" you can do, that they don't know where to start...
Networking with sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace and Plaxo.  Used primarily for networking, that is getting to know the people in your sphere of influence better.  Talking, listening, connecting, cultivating...  This can be done with minimal effort and great for beginners.  Easy to post info and pictures for sharing.
Blogging with sites like ActiveRain (my favorite!), Blogger, Wordpress, etc...  Blogging is used to help position … (13 comments)

Social Media...  Take II
I few days ago I talked about social media and what you can and could be using to grow your business.  I talked about www.facebook.com and www.twitter.com as well as www.plaxo.com and www.foursquare.com...  In writing that I realized that I should share "why" I think it is so important for us to understand these tools and start to use them and utilize them.
