As a Real Estate Broker and owner of a doggie day care in Trinity Florida, I have an interesting perspective on pets and showing property.
Reasons why removing dogs from a home that is on the market can help your property sell.
- Some buyers are afraid of animals.
- Some buyers are allergic to dogs.
- Barking dogs can be a distraction to perspective buyers.
- Dogs experience stress with strangers in their home.
- Allows for last minute showings.
My experience as a Broker in showing property to my clients has taught me that buyers are spontaneous and often have time restrictions that are not conducive to waiting for home sellers to make arrangements to put their dogs away. This can cause lost opportunities and cost the sale of the property. Most owners are unaware how affordable dog boarding can be.
Another consideration for home sellers is the safety of their dogs. When a home is listed and accessible to Realtors your dogs safety is left in the hands of these agents. In other words your dogs safety is left in the hands of strangers, who are focused on viewing the home and not ensuring that your pet does not escape through open doors and or gates.
My best advice would be to plan ahead and visit your local doggie day care or boarding facility and familiarize your dog in advance. This will allow you to make last minute appointments to drop your dog off for showings and or an open house.
