St. Paul's Methodist Church was built in the early part of this century. Is one of the most visited landmarks in the beautiful area surrounding Hermann Park.
The Church is still very active; in fact, my son and his wife were married there. I learned some of the history from the Minister who performed their service. They have one of the largest pipe organs in the country and the largest in Texas. It takes a team several months just to clean the pipes and keep it in working order. I ran across this story and I had to share it.
A Marine Cpl. Dustin Jerome Lee was in Iraq with his German Shepherd dog, 8 year old Lex. They scouted for roadside bombs together, slept together and the article said they even posed in Santa hats for a Christmas photo.
I am sad to say 20 year old Dustin Lee was killed in a mortar attack 9 months ago, and Lex was injured badly.
Dustin's parents from Mississippi wanted his beloved military dog so badly that they tried to adopt Lex. The military said that Lex still had 2 years of duty. They … (31 comments)

The Bayou City Art Festival Downtown is going to take place October 13-14 from 10 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. The Festival will showcase the works of 300 of the of the finest artists from Houston and around the world. American Style Magazine has named one of the top 10 Art Festivals in the U.S. The Festival also features a Creative Art Zone with free art projects and activities for the children.
