pearland parks and recreation: Mary's Creek Trail Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - RESCHEDULED - 04/16/12 11:00 AM
Due to inclement weather, the ribbon cutting for Phase I of Mary's Creek Trail has been rescheduled for Monday, April 23, 2012 at Centennial Park (3219 McLean Rd) at 5:00 pm.
In 2007, the City Council adopted a Hike & Bike Plan for the City of Pearland. Phase I of the Mary's Creek Trail includes 2.3 miles of hike and bike trail connecting Centennial Park to FM 1128. The section includes picnic areas and seating nodes, as well as way finding/educational signage about native birds, reptiles and insects.

Helping to answer the call for renewed values and education reform, Pearland Parks and Recreation will celebrate National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week October 16-22. CHARACTER COUNTS! is a framework centered on basic values called the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Last year, 8 million children in 54 countries participated in the program. One year ago on August 7, 2010, Pearland Parks and Recreation unveiled its most anticipated facility to date, the Recreation Center and Natatorium (RCN). To commemorate the occasion, the department will host the RCN Birthday Bash on Saturday, August 13, 2011. Festivities begin with fall registration for classes at 8 a.m. followed by various demonstrations and public use of the facility until 8 p.m. Facility admission, demonstrations and refreshments are free of charge.
