In the month of February, Florida was the most often searched state for real estate on REindex.com. It hasn't been unusual for Florida property seekers to push the state into the top ten in the past because of the shear number of towns in the state. In the month of February, the size of the state was not as important as the number of searches. I laughed when I read this. Sounds like someone in the courts is still a little conservative. Even if it isn't a true case, I thought it might cause a few more smiles. The latest real estate sales reports and numbers indicate that the market in many areas has stopped falling. This is good news for California real estate and Florida property owners. For a long time they have been leading in the "falling prices" category of real estate reporting. But now they are said to be leading in the return to normalcy. CNBC's Squawk Box interviewed Diane Ramirez, Halstead Property; Michael Katz, Sterling American Property; Don Peebles, Peebles Corporation and Liz Ann Sonders, Charles Schwab. They all had positive things to say about real estate. Many of the comments were about New York City real estate, Manhattan, Miami real estate, and Florida. Florida real estate sales were ranked number 48 out of 50 in terms of appreciation in 2007. Seven of the bottom 20 cities, likePort St Lucie were on the "20 worst cities" list. The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) produced an 88 page reports that says Florida real estate sales were number 48 in the list of states that had "...positive four-quarter appreciation" in 2007...". California real estate and Florida real estate had the most price declines in 2007, according to an 88 page report from the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO). This report is titled "Widespread House Declines in Fourth Quarter," but in reading the report, theres good news for some areas of the country.
