As Jack Nicklaus once said, "Golf is a game of inches and the most important are the 7 between your ears."

I say the same is true about Real Estate.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, “It’s the little things in this business that make the BIG DIFFERENCE.”

I like to use my trusty golf analogy when explaining this to clients and others.  Most everyone even vaguely familiar with the sport of golf is also familiar with the names of the top golfers. Due to their status, names like Tiger Woods, Phil Michelson, Paul Casey, Sergio Garcia, Vijay Singh, and Ernie Els often ring a familiar bell.

But if you were to look at the top 100 golfers, you would see that barring the few at the top of the list, very little margin in ranking points separates numbers five through 100.   After one good tournament, a golfer can charge up the list. After a bad showing, they can plummet. But the variance between players is very small.

The same factor applies to real estate agents.  Every agent who shares your market has passed the same state exam that you did, so there is often very little difference in the range of services to offer prospective Listing Clients.  The challenge lies in how to separate yourself from your competition when vying for business within the same market pool.
