Durham, NC: The King's Daughters Inn - 11/19/10 10:02 AM
What do History, High Tech & Green Technologies have in Common?
The King's Daughters Inn of course!
Yesterday I had the opportunity to tour downtown Durham and hear about all the new things coming to Durham and why the Chamber wants you to call Durham home!  It was a fabulous tour - More about that later!
Halfway through our trip, we stopped at The King's Daughters Inn for a cup of coffee and scones.  I was delighted to see what was in store for us!

Does Brick Really Need To Weep? - 11/17/10 07:51 AM
Ever wonder why there seems to be holes in a brick home or why the morter or cement is missing?
This is an excellent blog about Weep Hole for Brick Homes by Jay from Northern VA.  In North Carolina, we sell a lot of brick homes.  Many folks don't know what a weep hole is which is why I'm sharing this blog.  Jay has included some wonderful illustrations explaining the construction of a brick home and the purpose of a weep hole.  As Jay says, don't fill in those weep holes!

Short Sales . . . Avoiding Foreclosure Hell - 11/15/10 12:30 PM
Short Sales - Easy to Understand What they are but, Difficult to know how to get through one!
I came across this Blog originally written by Fernando of Maryland.  He did such a great job explaining short sales with his visuals.  So often I ask buyers if they know what a short sale is and most of the time they don't.
This is a great illustration and really helps consumers understand how it feels to be in this situation.  If you're feeling this way and think a short sale might be for you, contact your local Real Estate Professional for help.

Dead Fish or Terminator? What does your Hand Shake Say About You? - 11/15/10 05:45 AM
A first Impression is a lasting Impression! Not only is that what I've always been told but, have experienced.  In many first time meetings, we often greet someone new with a handshake.  So, why don't more people learn the proper way to shake hands?

So what's the big deal about a handshake anyhow?  Do you know what your handshake says about you?  Have you ever had a handshake so bad that it distracts you from what the person is saying?  My least favorite is when you extend your hand for the "fail-safe" handshake and the other person gives you a limp … (5 comments)

So, You Want To Buy A Foreclosure? - 11/13/10 11:57 AM
Make Sure the Foreclosure is really a "Deal"
I thought Carol from Jacksonville made a very good point with her blog about purchasing a foreclosure.  Buyers really need to get help with their search.  There is a danger of overpaying for a foreclosure (or similar distressed property) as well as losing a great deal!
I've been in multiple offer situations where my clients stopped bidding because I could tell if they went much further, the property would not be a deal or even a fair value.  I've also had situations where buyers have lost properties that were great deals because they … (5 comments)
