While countless efforts are underway at government levels to tackle the drought, it is important that we as apartment owners and managers step up in a big way.Water conservation can be effective - if everyone pitches in. Here's what you can do today: Make sure you regularly read the master water meter for your property. Atlanta BeltLine Inc. and NE Beltline LLC has bought the northeast section of the BeltLine corridor from developer Wayne Mason for $66 million. The section is a 66-acre, 4.5-mile section of the Atlanta BeltLine in northeast Atlanta. The acquisition gives Atlanta control of a 20 percent of the right-of-way to develop the BeltLine. The joint venture between Atlanta BeltLine and NE Beltline is a partnership with Ben Raney and the principals of Barry Real Estate Cos. Gov. Sonny Perdue of Atlanta and Gov. Bob Riley of Alabama had their first meeting on Capitol Hill Thursday morning. The meeting was scheduled in an attempt for the two to discuss solutions and methods of reserving water to fight the current drought both states are experiencing. Gov. The WNBA will announce Wednesday that it has awarded a franchise to Atlanta, a person familiar with the deal said Tuesday.Atlanta real estate executive Ron Terwilliger will be the sole owner of the team, which will begin play in 2008, according to the person familiar with the deal, who requested anonymity because the new franchise hasn't been officially announced yet.Atlanta City Council president Lisa Borders, one of the leaders of the committee which organized the effort, is expected to attend Wednesday's news conference along with Terwilliger.Borders and WNBA president Donna Orender did not immediately return messages on Tuesday.The WNBA's Charlotte franchise (0 comments)
