Marian Reins is an exceptional woman that lives in St. Louis, Missour and multi-tasks a business, family, and volunteers to care for horses at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch....50 miles away from her home. Marian is my guest and enjoy her story.
As a volunteer at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in Union, Missouri, I love all the horses, but my main love was Koty. He's a fabulous young Thoroughbred and one of the most affectionate horses I have ever known. Not a day went by that I didn't think of him. I arrived at Longmeadow at 7:00 a.m. one Sunday, full of anticipation - I had been waiting all week to see Koty. I turned off my car, jumped out, ran to the door of the barn and hurried down the center alleyway toward Koty's stall. Then suddenly everything in my field of vision faded except one small green sign that hung from Koty's stall door. It read, "Adopted." Many people at Longmeadow have had the same experience of falling in love with a horse, then arriving one day to find the green sign. It's the same feeling of loss that one experiences when a good friend moves away. Love gives these animals new life - sometimes love hurts. For Koty, his new life was just beginning. I dried my tears and walked back to his stall. He greeted me at his door with his head held low as I hugged his neck. He gently rested his head next to my body. That was the last time I saw Koty. Everyone at Longmeadow hopes that the animals will be adopted by loving families, and for the most part it's a happy time when those days arrive. Koty left Longmeadow. And we're still there - the staff and volunteers who are blessed to serve our animal friends. And you never know - someday I might be a Longmeadow volunteer who adopts a loving horse, one just like my friend Koty. -Marian Rein
My Comment: I certainly can appreciate Marian's emotion. A horse's trust is built by consistency, routine, and love. They are like people, they can sense sincerity. Horses can be your best friend.
Palm City Farms, Palm City, Florida...Equestrian Neighborhood
Just to add a note about beautiful Palm City Farms, Palm City, Florida. We are only 35 miles north of Palm Beach and we really consider ourselves the Wellington of the Stuart-Palm City Area. We have pristine properties that are affordable and we also have the beaches just fifteen minutes away. We also have the Old Florida style of living. We are an upscale equestrian neighborhood with a laid back attitude. Nice fresh air and a place for everyone. See my website at http://www.mysunflowerfarmfl.comand see these properties. Gated communities with equestrian activities, private estates, luxury estates, pristine riding facilities and great location.
I specialize in country homes and equestrian properties. I love the lifestyle and eager to find that perfect property for my clients. It is a true statement about Palm City when I say that " we have something for everyone". We have affordable living and we have our luxury estates. Our lifestyle is somewhat laid back but who cannot argue that a trip to the beach is only 15 minutes and a trip to the barn is just a step away and location to convenient shopping is almost immediate. That is why I live in Palm City.
Palm City is located just to the left of the Roosevelt Bridge. The water is the St. Lucie River and if you look to the top, that is the Atlantic Ocean. Historic town of Stuart is located at the entrance to the Roosevelt Bridge.
Many restaurants are located in the historic district and quaint specialty shops are there for shoppers to browse. The Treasure Coast Mall is located to the top left.
Many people have asked me about the distant from Palm City to the Atlantic. This is a very easy visual way to see that we are really just right there.
On the other hand, we have the luxury of country style living in Palm City and its Palm City Farms area. In the western communities of Palm City, we have Cobblestone, Stuart West, Meadow Run and many others. Of course we have private properties that vary in size...some have equestrian farms and others just enjoy lots of space.
COME ENJOY OUR BEAUTIFUL STYLE OF LIVING IN PALM CITY. ITS OLD FLORIDA AT ITS BEST.
Tellico Plains, Tennessee is a laid back little village found just southeast of Knoxville. To me, it is one of my favorite places to visit and could be a happy camper should I live there. I have met so many nice people in this town. Southern hospitality drips from all the villagers and the best hang out is the Old Bakery. Starbucks takes the back seat to their coffee and the pastries are drop dead good. One day as I was waiting for my order, the rangers came in and took a huge box back up to the forestry center. They knew the best place to go for great food. I can just smell the great food and even better the fresh mountain air. Scenery is beautiful and little Tellico Plains seems to always have a smile waiting for everyone. I love to ride the mountains with my husband on our touring bike. I look forward every year to the sounds of the crackling fire in our log cabin and a crsp ride down to the village on our bike. For Flordia people, this is a treat. Love this place. REDUCED! Quail Hollow Equestrian Farm is being offered for sale in different parcels. The Old Home site is reminiscent of OLD PALM BEACH, as in the olden days. As I wondered through this gorgeous estate, I could not help but think of OLD PALM BEACH and its parties of days gone by. It has a flair of the Bahamas, old Johns Island architecture, and North Palm Beach Island, as we see it today. One thing it does state is SOUTHERN LIVING appeal. The home once resided in Sewalls Point, built in 1950, and brought to its location to serve Quail Hollow Farm as its main residence. The house does not appear as a sprawling home as it is approached from the driveway. However, 4,303 square feet meanders around the courtyard, plus, there is a Guest House that has been newly constructed, too. A four stall barn is located nearby and a huge utility building for feed, tack, shop maintenance and shavings. The property is surrounded by pretty PVC fencing and a security gate. OLD FLORIDA! Quail Hollow has a very calm feeling inside the property. This is a must see. Call listing agent.
What else would you like to do? This property's courtyard pool makes relaxing easy and one can watch their horses as they relax. Everything is centered around the equestrian activity of the farm. Just a great property and price right. PALM CITYS HORSE TALK.

Longmeadow Rescue Ranch As a young girl, I dreamed of becoming a horse woman - I took riding lessons and covered the walls of my bedroom with posters of horses. Since then, I've become a mother, a publisher and developed a high level of compassion for animals, but I have yet to become the horse woman of my dreams. In April of this year, I rekindled that dream. I found Longmeadow Rescue Ranch, just 50 miles from my St. Louis home. Located in Union, Missouri, Longmeadow is home to nearly 160 farm animals, mostly horses, that have been abused and neglected. I became a volunteer and spend Sundays at the ranch, mucking stalls, feeding animals and learning more about caring for horses. With loving hands of staff and volunteers, these horses embark on a journey of healing that brings most of them back to good health. One might think that being at a ranch that rehabilitates abused and neglected farm animals, some of whom have endured unspeakable cruelty, would spur feelings of sadness in me - an ardent animal lover. At times I experience sadness, but mostly I feel gratitude that Longmeadow exists. Despite the often severe circumstances that bring animals to the ranch, the Humane Society of Missouri's Longmeadow Rescue Ranch is a peaceful place where healing and love are just commonplace.
