foreclosures: The Resolution Trust Corp and Bailout and How It Can/Should Apply To Cleveland - 09/20/08 02:32 PM
I'm pretty much just going to post this as Bill Callahan and Frank Ford wrote it. Just a few extra thoughts before I do. The key point to me is that no matter how angry it makes me or all of us, clearly we need to do this. But what we need to do in a quick, band-aid fashion, is a bailout. What should take longer, in my opinion, is the actual restructuring that may occur. We need to make sure that all the necessary checks and balances are in place, that any regulatory changes put into place make

foreclosures: What Part Do Individual Markets Need to Play In Our National Mortgage Crisis? - 11/23/07 04:15 PM
There are two thought provoking posts on the board today getting my brain in a swirl. The first one was on the issue of California Sub Prime Relief by Lenn Harley. This post is replete with the relief issue as proposed by the California Governor, and the general question of how involved should The Government be in these relief efforts (Gena Reide). Lenn asks important questions and some of them said, is the California Market pertinent to her Maryland market? I say, how intertwined are all of our markets based on the severity of the issues involved? And I ask that question hoping

foreclosures: A Call To uh, No ARMS ....Are ARMS really the devil incarnate? - 09/26/07 08:09 PM
Approximately 600,000 ARMS are set to well, reset next month. This prompts a coalition of groups to call for a moratorium on ARMS. A two year moratorium. WKYC's website has an article about it here. Cleveland's Slavic Village and Union-Miles neighborhoods are in the unfortunate position to be number one in the Country in foreclosures...yes, that is the Country and not the County! So Slavic Village was the setting for this moratorium request. They call it the Save The American Dream program. There were people there from other cities like Des Moines and Pittsburgh.....places also hoping to stem the tide of foreclosures. They give

foreclosures: Foreclosures....The Other F Word - 12/28/06 09:33 PM
It Doesn't Have to Be This Way, Does It? 2006 is ending, and as far as foreclosures are concerned, may it RIP. According to The Fannie Mae Foundation, this past year saw a 68% increase in the number of foreclosures Nationally. That translated into about One out of every 936 homeowners finding foreclosure a part of their life. But wait, there's more. In Cuyahoga County, One out of every 122 homeowners faced foreclosure this past year. An article in Crain's Cleveland from December, written by Shawn Turner, was stark and sobering. In 1995, there were 2,582 County foreclosures. 2006 may see us top 12,000.
