Customer Service - 08/30/08 10:58 PM
Although I am actually a plain and simple kind of gal, I do like to drive a nice car. I am in it a lot, of course, and my clients need to be comfortable. Until recently I drove a BMW 745 Li. It was a very good car and almost completely paid for. I had taken excellent care of it and planned to keep for a while and owe no one! So much leg room in the back seat... Oh, well, all that came to a crashing end when a relatively new driver ran a stop sign at a much too (4 comments)
Today we had a fabulous church service at First Baptist of The Woodlands, TX. It was the "kick off" to our new year of activities so everyone wore the jersey or t-shirt from their favorite team. Of course, I wore my Tennessee Volunteers shirt! We were having our first service in our newly remodeled sanctuary and it is beautifully. But that is not what made it a great day for me. The message was about friendship. The pastor said that basically there are 8 levels of friendship and one day I will probably list all 8 and post a (0 comments)
Back to School Time - 08/23/08 05:55 PM
It seems still far too warm to even think about being back in school but the time has arrived. In our area, school resumes on Monday, August 25. My niece started last week in Tennessee. I called her on Thursday to see how she was doing. This is her first year in middle school. She said, "It is going great. I love it. It is so good to be back with all my friends. Everything is great except the learning!" You read it correctly; she is not interested in school, she is interested in the social aspect of it! I remember (5 comments)
Be Careful what you Say on your Blog - 08/16/08 12:07 PM
I am a relatively new blogger and find it fascinating. I have learned a lot and laughed a lot. I have just completed reading a great, short article in the August 2008 edition of Texas Realtor Magazine, written my Tom Morgan who is vice president of legal affairs for the Texas Association of Realtors. This informative article, which of course is based on Texas law, basically warns us what we can and cannot say in a blog. Although I certainly do not want to plagiarize the article, I would like to share a few nuggets that I gleaned from it. We as (2 comments)
I just Can't get Past Being Ticked! - 08/14/08 11:38 AM
A couple of weeks ago, I had a call at the office regarding a home our firm had listed. The lady said she was not working with an agent but had called another agent about a home. The other agent had never gotten back to her. The lady and her husband were moving here and needed a home to purchase. They wanted to spend Saturday morning looking at houses. My husband and I were scheduled to leave town on Saturday to drive to VA for our grandson's birth (c-section scheduled for Monday). I very professionally and tactfully explained to the lady (4 comments)

As mentioned in a previous blog, there are 3 school districts that service The Woodlands, TX: Conroe ISD, Tomball ISD, and Magnolia ISD. Death of Isaac Hayes, Legend and Icon in Music - 08/10/08 06:00 PM
It is Sunday, Aug. 10 and I just heard of the death of soul singer Isaac Hayes. I remember when I was in high school and his theme song from "Shaft" came out. It seemed somewhat forbidden and yet it was exciting. Hayes was 65 and found unconscious in his Memphis home next to his treadmill which was still running. Hayes would have been 66 in only 10 days, August 20. He was born Isaac Lee Hayes, Jr in Covington, TN (home of some of the best barbecue in the USA). It is said he wanted to be a doctor before (3 comments)
Two High Schools in the Woodlands - is one better? - 08/09/08 12:36 PM
As people move into The Woodlands, a major consideration is often schools for their children. We have two outstanding high schools that are part of Conroe Independent School District in The Woodlands: The Woodlands High School and College Park High School. In this post, I am going to attempt to give a little information for the general public as they search for a home. The Woodlands High School: composed of two campuses, one for 9th grade only at Branch Crossing and the main campus for grades 10-12 on Research Forest Drive. The school was rated academically acceptable by the TEA in (1 comments)

Olympics Underway - 08/09/08 09:49 AM
I so enjoyed the pageantry and excitement of the opening ceremony last night. The blend of ancient China with its modern emphasis on our world was fabulous. Even though I am one who supports "Buy American", we cannot deny the economical influence the Chinese have on our society. Those of us from the Greater Houston area, have several athletes from our hometown to support. The Lopez family (actually from Sugar Land) are favorites in Taekwondo. The Woodlands own Laura Wilkinson is returning for her third Olympics. She won gold from the platform in Sydney and finished fifth in Athens. Her coach (0 comments)
United Title's closing / Mercury Corporation - 08/08/08 05:57 PM
Most REALTORS in Texas know about the sudden closing of United Title Company. I was very fortunate as were my clients. We were scheduled to close on my buyers' home the day after United closed its doors. Although we were delayed one day, we were able to transfer the account to another title company and close and fund. My clients were not able to receive credit for the earnest money that they had in escrow but eventually we hope to get it refunded to them. Luckily, we were working with a good lender and they were able to increase the loan (1 comments)

Greater Houston Luxury Market with Emphasis on The Woodlands - 08/08/08 11:39 AM
You might wonder what really constitutes a luxury home. By definition, a luxury home is a home priced above $500,000 or is priced in the top 10% of the local market, whichever is greater. In the greater Houston area where prices vary so, a price of $500,000 or greater is a luxury home. In The Woodlands (HAR MLS area 15, location 107) however, where prices average a little more, a home priced at least $600,000 is classified as a luxury home. In 2007, there were 2549 single family homes sold in HAR MLS area 15, location 107. Of those, 257 single (4 comments)
